There's a guy in Scotland who lives in a mobile library in Dores, right on the shores of Loch Ness. Mind you, even he says it's bloody cold in the winter!

Caravans a better bet, then you can use the car.
They're also alot cheaper to buy.0 -

If you have storage for everything else then no problem imo (assume couple no kids). They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

Plenty of motorhomers full time it in their vehicles, though normally in sunnier climes. If you need space or storage it no problem to rent secure storage for possessions for £10-£15 per month. The man without a signature.0

I hired a Winnebago to do Glastonbury festival in, we only had it for a week, but you could easily do 6 months in, the one we had an option to have a smartcar attached at the back, had 2 queen size beds and a proper bath! so much better than trailing the equivalent of a 1* B&B behind you.0

Cost of hiring for 6 months could be a bit dear, or if you buy it you might actually need a mortgage.
Without the smartcar your shopping trip to town is a bit hard as well.0 -

I think it's an excellent idea, I have a motorhome myself, and could happily live in it.
They don't re-sell well, so prepared to take a loss if you need to sell it quickly.
If it's your only vehicle, towns are a bit hard, if you have a van big enough for a decent bed.
High barriers are everywhere, so parking is impossible.
Do you plan to travel, or park up, as this affects what sites you should use.0
