Yep - spotted. If you have an issue with TalkTalk and their DNS the *correct* place for that is not MSE. It is *with* talk talk. But thank you for your valuable wisdom. :T
    Obviously, I have upset you.

I think it's fair enough to call out their representative here if they're going to BE a representative here.

There are quite a few recent (and at least a couple current) threads here regarding DNS problems that turned out to be TalkTalk's fault. Their DNS servers are ropey, and it's quite well known. They've got workarounds on their support forums, but while workarounds are fine as a temporary fix, are they any closer to sorting their own dns servers?

Using OpenDNS or Google is fine, but there are obvious privacy concerns there. The bottom line is that it's been happening for a while and the ISP don't seem any closer to sorting it. If they can't get DNS right, which isn't the most difficult of things, it doesn't show them in the best light.

Don't listen to Mr_Plonk. He seems to be the new block warden here. Yesterday he had a go at me ;)

    Hi All,

In relation to this issue I appreciate that relevant actions need to be taken by TalkTalk Netowrk engineers to resolve this issue in full.

However the Forum provides a supportive environment for those experiencing these issues and advise on ow to implement the Open DNS work-around. Not in every case will a customer be fully conversant to complete this change so we are here to support.

In addition to this when advising customers of the work around the TTMF actually collate examples of the issue to provide to our network in order to get the issue resolved. We regularly put pressure on our network engineers to resolve potential issues we identify via the forum and this can only be done with the supporting evidence from our affected customer.

As such registration the forum is beneficial as it allows us to keep a public record of the issues we have experienced and the resolutions implemented.

All companies are affected by bad publicity and service problems however it is only through the reaction and response to these issues that a company can affect public opinion. The TalkTalk Online Community Team endeavour to delivery a clear concise and transparent support structure in the public domain.

    Regards

While I appreciate most of what you said, you shouldn't need to put pressure on your network engineers to do their jobs. :/

Your DNS servers are a known problem, how many people need to complain about something before it gets fixed? Is it classed as a low priority problem because it's relatively easy to work around the problem?

Looking around a few forums like this one, the one over at thinkbroadband etc, there are quite a few problems with the TT service. The price is definitely right but I couldn't recommend the service to anyone.

Thanks. This is all that is required to put the issue right. Plus kicking brass if necessary.

    HI All,

As advised I appreciate the Network engineers do need to resolve this issue.

This is why I have asked all affected customer to register on the forum. The more examples of this issue we can highlight to our network the higher priority the issue will have for a full resolution and for those affected we can advise the relevant workaround.

However you cannot expect that we can accurately record the number of customers affected if the issue is not reported via official support channels such as the forum. The MSE forum is not an official TalkTalk support platform therefore the more customer we can demonstrate this issue with the quicker we will get a permanent resolution.

The TTMF Team take issue such as this very seriously and a look through the TTMF forum will show we work proactively when we identify issues to our network to collate examples from customers and ensure the correct resolutions are implemented.

    Regards

I've thanked you. I am taking it as a strong indication that your network team are not taking a blind bit of notice - despite the matter being raisedon your forums already - and it being a well enough known issue that I have been aware of it for a while - and I am not a customer.

It looks to me like there is one hell of a pig obstinate manager in your network team. Perhaps HR should be involved to do the thing that only HR can do?
