A very good point... My parents have retired to southern Spain, and apparently the resale market where they are is completely dead, to the extent that estate agents refuse to take on additional properties! Seems that in many areas the only people who can afford to buy properties are the English and Germans, and they only buy new-build (at inflated prices). It'll be even more interesting (pardon the pun) as interest rates rise at home and foreigners stop buying second homes for a while.
I think at the very least the programme should have mentioned that this is the case in many areas.0 -
think i'll make sure we don't watch this one!
OH is always talking about buying abroad while boring old me is trying to knock the mortgage DOWN!weaving through the chaos...0 -
It doesn't look like they sold. If you go to the C4 webpage homes page then there is a link to the programme. The houses are up for rent and for sale. However it looks like they have bought more houses.

Can't believe they stand to make nearly £250k after at one point looking like they would have to ditch the whole plans because their spanish bank mislaid their mortgage application. The biggest bonus for them was re-selling the propertly they bought for £35,000 (part of this also paid for 2 others I think) for £115,000 without doing anything but basically drawing up approved plans. Unbelievable. Good luck to them, but I couldn't handle the risk...0

What I don't get is that when Sarah did all the bought for / valuation for / profit....
what about all the associated costs!?!
None of that was mentioned and that would have eaten into their "profit". Didn't they keep getting more equity from their UK homes....that would have cost more etc.
It does make me angry that they don't put the costs on there so it looks as though it's been really easy.
Ah well......I'll continue to reduce my mortgage slowly! :j

Best laugh i've had in ages. The last update we viewers got was filmed in May with the usual estate agents inflated valuations. No mention was made about any offers being made let alone any of them being sold - wonder if we will get a 'revisited'? Money in this programme seemed to come from nowhere with the usual 'we've borrowed every penny possible, remortgaged to the hilt etc - then you get a shot of a lovely furnashed house!! Where did the money come from to buy furnashings?
Other posters are spot on about the tax issue being kept on a low key - although it did say 'before tax' whenever they flashed a figur up on the screen.
The impression i got - and its only my personnal view - was that here we have a couple of women who are not as hard up as the programme made out, probably got bored and decided to jump on the bandwagon after watching numerous 'do it up' programmes.
Congratulations to them if they do make a profit out of it, but it wont have been through any skillful business planning. I only hope nobody has been inspired by the programme. The tide is turning!0 -

I was thinking the same thing....at one stage they were all but bust and then suddenly weeks later you have a house fit for Homes&Gardens magazine!!!! They didn't say how much they spent on all those furnishings, nor on the cost to fly out there each time...methinks this was not a big a profit making exercise as the programme would make you believe!!2024 Challenges- Grocery Budget (January £0/£300)
- Decluttering (Underway!)
- Frugal Living (January £0/£500
- 24 in 2024 (0/24)

Usually Sarah Beeny is good at pointing out all the 'extras' that eat into a profit - but last night's show seemed to simplified. What about all those flights and accommodation costs whilst she was over there for weeks at a time? And I agree - the furnishings would have cost a fair bit too.
Maybe they want to dazzle viewers without presenting all the 'boring' bits that eat away your profit!!:rolleyes20 -
Oh well it seems I didn't miss much then!0
