Just catching up with your diary becci, you've done really well to reduce your dfd by a month so quickly, every little bit helps! Those figures you've posted for your original payments are scary! It is surprising how much difference a little overpayment makes.

Have you seen the payment a day thread? That is a great motivator, you make a small payment per day towards your debt, and it is surprising how much it soon adds up (and becomes addictive!). I have been known to make a 1p payment to my credit card, and just hope it REALLY annoys them having lots of small payments as well as the normal payment each month!

    Unbelievable!!!

Just finished making a post on Adam's diary and then lent over my desk to grab some papers that were blowing away as the window's open, didn't realise I'd pushed my chair back and just sat down where there was no longer a chair!!!! Lucky I'm alone in my office this afternoon! My bum hurts now! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Point taken Miggy - MUST SLEEP MORE!!! :D

Sorry Beccie but I did have a little chuckle at this, I hope you understand ;)

Those figrues you posted in regards to the snowballis scary! It just goes to show how quickly things can be changed if you put your mind to it!

Hope you have a good shift tomorrow, I am doing 5 till close and am hoping it's nice and chilled as well.

    Keep motivated

That's a HELL of a lot of interest you'd have paid off by sticking to the minimum payments! I'm going to work out mine, maybe it will add that extra incentive I've been looking for :D

    Thank you!

I have actually just started the PAD this month and have been posting on the thread. It is a good motivator, it's nice to try and help push the joint total up, can't believe how well everyone is doing!

I saw on Woowoo's diary she's been doing that too, and it does make me laugh! I've been tempted to pay off a few pennies when I have enough money to pay more just to annoy them too! :D

    So, update for today...

Camera has been sent off for repair under warranty, good news, didn't want to be shelling out for another one!

Bad news on the transfer front. Goldfish refused to transfer a balance for me, even if not done on a promotional rate, apparently balance transfers are a 'benefit'. I have to admit to having a full on strop after I got off the phone. I can't transfer a balance even though there is room on my card, yet I could go and spend that money no problem running myself further into debt. Just feels like you're banging your head against a brick wall sometimes - you're doing all you can and just feels like they're determined to make things harder for us.

I wanted to shift my Lloyds balance before trying to move MBNA onto Lloyds so that the original balance didn't get stuck behind it.

Been having a think though and may have to move the MBNA balance regardless. The MBNA card is costing me £150 a month interest which is crippling. I know if the Lloyds balance gets 'stuck' then it will cost me £50 a month and I won't be able to change that which isn't very MSE but am struggling to see any other way forward at the mo.

Of course this is assuming that Lloyds stick to their 'get paid three more times' and actually let me move the balance!:(

On a brighter note, I have been over to the PAD thread and posted my payment to MBNA for today £160.98! :j

Off out for a friends bday tonight too, stayed in all weekend so that I could afford this so am looking forward to it! :)

Ouch! I'm sure there must be something you can do about that cripling interest? It's HUGE! Although saying that, the interest on my Lloyds loan is about £200 a month!!! I don't know how I could even begin to bring this down, without paying huge sums to clear the capital.

Agh, just thought I'd let you know it's AdamA9 here - I asked for a name change when I very first joined, however, it's only just been done, so I'm not some random person who's hijacked Adam LOL

    Hi Beccie
Love your diary ahd have subscribed. Your situation sounds very similar to mine. At least you're doing something about it now - not leaving it to your 30's when your debt would be almost 40K, like mine was  (I'm 44 now)

I think getting a credit card when I was 18 and a student was the begining of my debt problems too! I seemed to have more money when I had pocket money and a Saturday job! I went to at least 2 concerts a month, bought loads of film and music magazines, like Smash Hits and Kerrang! a month (which I now sell on ebay!) and even saved for 2 week holiday to Malta!

    Hi Beccie

I really admire your determination and your energy! Its now those interest rates that are doing some damage, aren't they, but you're absolutely right to focus on the balance transfers. I'm not up on how to do them - I only ever did it while I was stoozing - but there *must* be threads on the forum somewhere, maybe not on dfw, but on a different board, where you can check the situation out? Or am I missing the point and you already see your way forward?

I'm a really different age from you, but I can understand the Zim trips - I went for 3 weeks at the backend of the 1990s, just before all the bad trouble kicked off - I mostly saw the white community, as I have relatives over there, but it was still amazing, and I managed to get off the leash a bit of the time and see some of the rest of the country and the people.

The only thing I'd say about your situation now, is to remember to sleep :)

    Hi Beccie!

Really enjoying reading your diary. I go through phases of motivation/demotivation and reading your posts are thoroughly motivating me.

I have a debt (which I don't want to reveal the extent at the moment) - it's manageable but I want to get rid of it. I am sick of spending two thirds of my wages on the necessities of life then three quarters of the remainder on paying off my debts so I am now going to start again again.

I will try and keep up with your postings to keep me up and at it!

So now I am going to re-apply to experian for my free information- again!

Keep it up, you are doing so well so far!
