Sorry to hear about the house, my OH is 6'3" so we can't do low ceilings either! The debt busting is looking good though, another few months knocked of, well done! :j

    Hi Beccie
I have just discovered your thread and think you're doing a fab job! Your target is give or take the same size as mine although I must admit I had not known where to start with getting underway. Reading you progress so far I now feel motivated to make a start and possibly go for a similar time frame, so thank you!
I am all subscribed now so look forward to seeing how your getting on and wish you the very, very best of luck xx

Thanks Caro! Hopefully we can work on motivating each other. I know we both owe large amounts, but any start is a good start. Do you have a diary on here? x

Thanks Jody! I was annoyed because when I did the original snowball for some reason my loan got dropped and I didn't notice so I thought that I was looking at a date in 2012!!! But, on my determined to remain optimistic side, it may be in 2013 but I've already reduced it by a few months. Just got to somehow bring it down to June 2011...:D

Thanks Beccie - yep I think a bit of motivation is definitely going to be in order. So far I'm finding the whole dealing with debt thing ok, but as a hardened, long term shopaholic I know its not going to be an easy ride!! :(
I don't have a diary but you never know, I might get a bit braver! Look forward to hearing how its all going and good luck with the house hunting xx

I'm the same, well used to be! I've managed to cut back on so much. I was forever buying gadgets and what not.

I'd always thought I didn't need a diary, however, it really does help and provides more motivation to get your debt clear when you can see the numbers in front of you in black and white

Finally seem to have got my figures in order (maths is clearly not my strong point!). This has pushed my original debt free date up to Nov 2013  but at least it's already come down by a month.

After not needing to pay agency fees this month, I paid a further £300 off MBNA yesterday. Also picked up my wages from the pub last night (worked a close, I hate that!!!) but that's given me another £60 so off to the bank at lunch time today to pay that in, that's also going to come off MBNA.

Finally sorted my log-in problems with Egg and got online to discover my balance was £589 less than I thought! :T Happy days.

Pleased to see that in my end of month figures my total debt is now under the 23K mark - I know it's only under by £6 but it's sooo nice to see the 22 in it!

Got my free trial with Experian and my credit rating is looking good, only 1 missed payment in the last year. Hoping this means that my credit rating is back up to normal.

As it's pay day today I've waited for the 3 pay days recommended by the bank. I'm hoping that means that I'll now be able to make some balance transfers this month and escape the crippling interest I'm paying!

So that's the plan of attack for July - try to transfer some balances, keep working lots of hours and keep making those overpayments. And of course keep motivated and smiling!!! :D

It's such a boost to go below the next thousand mark! I think I'm in the £21k at the moment by about 70p, and hoping this will go below £21k by the end of the month, but it's going to mean lots of hard work :(

Well that's what we're all here for - motivation and support :)

I'm sure if you look around on here you'll find other people in a similar situation - coping with debt and the urge to spend. I'm sure they could have some useful advice.

I'd really recommend starting a diary when you feel brave enough. I've found it really helpful so far and I've only just started!

I found making the first post useful - it was good for me to lay out my 'debt story' as it were, helped to see it all in one go and identify where I'd gone wrong. It's also good motivation updating figures as they are paid and I also love the fact that people on here are interested in that extra £10 you managed to pay off and can sympathise with the APRs you're stuck with! When you're having a down day you can also rely on the people here to pep you up again. In short, i think it's good to be chatting with people who really do understand!

I'm sure that you will be able to do it!

At least it's been payday now, which is always good for the motivation part as you can start working out who you're gonna pay what.

Keep us posted - can't wait till you say your sub 20K :D
