Returned to work from maternity leave and its HORRIBLE

no advice, just wanted to send a hug!
if you do resign will you have to repay any of your maternity pay? if so would it be worth staying for the minimum time until you no longer have to repay it? what does your husband think - can you manage financially if you resign?
can you grit your teeth and put up with it for a little while (during which things might improve - fingers crossed!) while looking into other jobs? or if you stayed at home would you get tax credits or does your husband earn a lot?
it doesn't sound nice, have another hug! when it gets you down just think of your precious little baba. can you have a photo on your desk?52% tight0 -
First baby due on 11th Dec, Plan to go to night school 1 night a week for three hours starting 9th Jan, then when other half has finished college (mature student) in July I was going to try being self employed (trained as a bookeeper, but will need to find the work) a couple of days a week as I should have finished breast feeding and just be expressing a couple a day. After reading this poor ladys post, am I being to ambitious, is reality going to hit me like a bag of s**t:o0

I can remember starting a new job which, although well paid, was mind-numbingly boring. Business was booming, there were probably about 20 of us starting work on that day.
The personnel manager told us that the work may come as a culture shock, but pleaded for us to give it 3 weeks.
He had seen dozens of people come and go, and reckoned that those people who made it through the first 3 weeks were likely to stay.0 -

No, but some employers now will let you take up to a 5 year career break, so with full maternity leave you could technically have 6 years off!:j :Ttying hard to cut down grocery shop bill...0 -
you can have a year, but the last 6 months of it are unpaid. there's also 13 weeks unpaid parental leave you can ask for, i think that's anytime when your child is under 5, handy for if they break a leg etc. there might be different rules with different employers, but that's based on my experience of not not being entitled to anything special lol!52% tight0

Going back to work after maternity leave is an absolute nightmare! I did this 18 months ago when my youngest was 6 months old and to top it all I had just become a single parent!

I'm about to be made redundant now, just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, and I'm thinking of going self employed.
I've posted for some advice on doing this on another forum on here so I'll see what advice I get. I have loads of accounting experience and love analysis work, working with mass data, spreadsheet problem solving etc. I've just got to find out how to market myself and is there a demand for the services I can offer?
Best of luck to all you working mums!
