We only went for one night Bun, just made the journey part of the break. We stopped every now and again, Found a gorgeous river and bridge on the way up, had a mooch round Oban on the way home. Made it feel like a proper holiday.
We havent left our kids with anyone for about 10 years now, but when we did, we'd often say we were going out but actually just stay in with a take away and enjoy being kid free
Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

We've got a Cottage at Symonds Yat ( Ross-On-Wye area ) next weekend. Thats not too far from you Bunny. Nice walks and plenty of places to eat.
Lots of nice Hotels at good prices too. Mountains, rivers etc all in one place.

By my figures. The increase in basic tax Allowance will save about £200 a year in Tax.
VAT increase is about 2.1% in real term. this equates to the spending on £9524 of goods where Full VAT is chargeable. So, on basic calculations, most people are better off.
Then its all about how much Fuel you buy.....and other consumables.
Benefits will drop for thse alredy earning good money.
fags, booze, petrol....no increases ( cheers:beer:)
No VAT on food is great news.

We haven't actually got anyone to have the kids yet so it may be a moot point.Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0

Not good for us-CGT up, still no VAT relief on pilot training expenses (admittedly a little specialised for the budget, but still..)but at least no means testing of child benefit, so could have been worse..Debt-free...and staying that way...0

Bunny, there are lots of nice towns/villages in the Cotswolds or maybe even Oxford?
There's a hotel/B&B somewhere in the Cotswold that has chocolate themed rooms.
This is somewhere I'd love to go http://www.amberleycastle.co.uk/
