Want to pay off contract, but o2 want to charge VAT?
currently on a iPhone 3gs on o2, I want out of the iPhone game, so after paying off o2
In the past when I've payed off mobile contracts early (done it twice) its been.
x Months remaining - VAT = pay off figure.
Now, o2 want to charge VAT ?
surely as I will not be receving a service, I shouldn't be paying VAT?

Hi there
The problem you've got is that part of the contract is for the phone and the remainder for the minutes/texts. As such, because you are not giving them the phone back, VAT is applicable. What you may want to do is calculate how much of the remaining cost relates to the phone and how much to calls then argue the toss over the VAT on the calls element.In the beginning, the universe was created.
