Depends what kinda content you're looking to download. Anything you're grabbing from limewire that's executable I wouldn't advise you to execute no matter what public p2p networks you got it from. You've just no way of knowing if it's clean or not.

Most software out there has free open source alternatives that are in many cases better than paid-for ones, but failing that they'll probably do everything you need them to.

I reckon that within 3 replies someone will have broken forum rules.

    Hi
For downloading music MSE recommends using 'TuneChecker'.
    Here:-http://www.tunechecker.com/

It's not Limewire that is full of virii, it is the machines you connect to (which means it won't make any odds what P2P app you use).

Limewire and its ilk exists only to provide somewhere for virus programmers to come up with new and innovative ways to spread viruses!

I have heard HMV are quite good and seem to be virus free ;)

Google is always good for free music
Just type in the search box "intitle:index of" artist-title.mp3 and it will give you a list of places you should be able to download the track from. So for example type
    "intitle:index of"Hot Chocolate-I gave you my heart.mp3
In some cases you might have to download a whole album to get the track you want but you might also find something else you like

The insane thing about limewire was that you could download limewire pro illegally via the free version. Makes you wonder how they ever made any money!

If it's music he's downloading I'd love to know why he's afraid of viruses.
