Present idea for male teacher?

School breaks up next week and I normally get a small gift for the teacher.

This year though (for the first time), small person has had a male teacher so my usual gifts of smellies/wine/candles etc seem a bit inappropriate!!;)

He's a young bloke..30 and from what I can gather seems to like his X-Box and stuff and appears to me to be a 'lads lad' but I don't really think sending her in with a 6 pack of Bud would be the way forward!!!:rotfl::rotfl:

Anyone any ideas? As I say, it's a small gift so no more than £6-7 :)

My ex-boyfriend is a teacher and he gets heaps of:
socks, ties, cheap tesco gadget things (eg USB readers), wine, vouchers.

I used to drink the wine (as he doesn't) and we sold the gadgets etc on ebay TBH. He always used the socks and never had to buy a pair!
  • Yea nothing, the bloke does a job the same as the rest of us why the hell does he need a present for doing it?
Nothing to see here, move along.

I think beer, wine, socks, ties are all good. My Dad was a teacher and so had loads of stuff given to him. Could do homemade biscuits plus homemade card perhaps? What about a book voucher or something like that?

DH is a primary teacher, and generally gets beer/wine/chocs/top gear stuff ( as he has his class believing that he is the stig). Normally the more quirky items are his favourites, but his best ever present was an Oxfam Unwrapped card which said that 500 (I think) pencils had been donated to an African school on his behalf. The student had written 'thought this would be nicer than another bottle of wine!' - he loved it!

The quirkier presents tend to be his favourites, or the beer lol.

My Dad was a teacher and got
    Pen
    Paperweight
Model of the Taj Mahal that lights up
    Thermometer paperweight
All from places the kids had been to on holiday, which he really appreciated

    He also got
    Chocolates
    Wine
    Biscuits
Bubblebath in a beer bottleshaped bottle
    Mug
    Tie

While he was a teacher we had enough boxes of chocolates to last throughout the whole year. No complaints from the rest of the family :D.

I have to agree with you here.

Why on earth do people buy presents for teachers at the end of the school year?
Like one poster said, most of them are sold on ebay

I used to work in a school office. It was common for the teachers to be sat in the staff room at lunchtime laughing about and complaining about some of these presents. Some of them were thrown straight in the bin.

When my daughters were at school, they used to make a thank you card for their teacher. That's all that's needed IMO.

I've never heard a teacher complaining about a present they've received from a parent. Most comments I've heard are about how thoughtful parents and children are and how nice it is that they appreciate you.
