Faulty Watch bought from Amazon

Hi Folks,
I have recently brought a watch from amazon when they had their sale a few weeks back.
It arrived faulty, as if the battery had ran out. They sent me a replacement which was exactly the same.
They now have this notice on their site, saying they are investigating the fault:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001CCVEGO/ref=oss_product
They offered me a refund, but as I got the watch for a really good price, and I really really like it, I'd just like a replacement that works.
They stated that I could order the watch from another seller on their site, which was again not good enough, because I wasn't prepared to pay fullprice for the watch after I originally got it in a sale.
Do you think I could hold out for a replacement, even if its after the time period to send it back for a refund?
I really like the watch and I'm gutted it doesnt work.
I also thought about replacing the battery myself, as it might be the battery thats ran down.
Does anyone have ideas on how I can get a working watch for the price I originally paid?
Many thanks

So do you know if the product is actually faulty or is it just the battery?
If it's the battery, problem solved and you get to keep the watch!
Well amazon have offered you a refund for what your classing as a faulty product, i'm not 100% sure if they are legally obliged to provide you with a replacement or if they can offer the refund as an alternative?:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!0 -
Thanks for your reply.
I have no idea what is wrong with the watch it just appears lifeless, could well be the battery.
I'm going to take it to a jewellers and see if they can replace the battery.
As I got the watch for such a good price, could I get it repaired?
I'm wiliing to do anything to get it working.0 -

Hmm
I bought a couple of Police watches in the sale, both worked fine. You did pull out the little white plastic thing to start the battery? lolThere's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0
