If you are unsure, the best thing is to post details on here.
From your latest bill tell us the number of gas units used and how many kwh they have been converted to.
The bill may have been split into different dates, so one conversion will be sufficient.
PS It looks very likely that you have been billed for the wrong type of meter going by dogshome earlier post.

Thanks for this.

I have the amounts and its possible that im being overcharged.

Correct reading as of 30th March:

6420c with 226 units.

Standing charge (even though im on a no standing charge tarrif) 30 days @ 8.60

then 3201 @3.601

Do i divide 6420 by 226 units? equalling 28.40?

Thanks in advance

No.
It looks as if 6420 is the end customer reading.
You have used 226 units in that period.
What we want to know is how many kwh that has been converted to (from the bill).
From the email that you received it looks as if your gas is a standing charge tariff but your electricity is not.
Later on you say 3201 @ 3.601, that does seem like a kwh figure but does not equate to either metric or imperial for 226 units but I have to say it is nearer metric.
Let us know the kwh figure from your 226 units.
Also from that email it states your gas price is 3.027, where does 3.601 come from?
Also also! When they told you by email that your cost from 2007 to present was £5568 and you said for 6911 gas units. That figure is more like one worked out for an imperial meter when you have a metric one.

1. Where on my bill does it say how many KWH that has been converted? Im guess that this is 3201, but I may be wrong. Would it be 3201kwh @ 3.601p?

My wife took them figures off the last bill we had in March, the rates may have changed in this time.

2. Ill check the bill when I get in and maybe post a photo if that helps?

3. I think they make it up half the time!!! lol

Ive cancelled my direct debit, so im sure they will sort it out sooner rather than later!!!

Thanks for helping me!
• Here is a copy of the last bill. unfortunately it looks like I may have been billed correctly. There must be a problem with the meter or the boiler im guessing, as we simply don't use alot of gas. I could understand electric, but not gas.

Not enough for £5500 in 3 years!!!!

Any help is much appreciated once again

Unfortunately the meter said m3 on the front

You mean 'fortunately the meter said m3 on the front'. :p You don't want, on top of an unexpectedly high consumption, to discover that that is an underestimate.

No, those are both meter units (a meter reading and number of meter units used.) You divide the kWhs by the meter units used. So in that period meter units were 226 + 60 and you were charged for 3201 kWhs.

3201 / 286 = 11.19 so you are being billed for a metric meter.
• I have just found an old bill from 18/02/09 and the Actual read was 1468 my read this year was 6420 in March. That means in the last year ive used 4952! 77% of the 3 year gas bill!

As already stated, unfortunately on this bill you are being billed correctly for a metric meter, so no reduction due .
