The Lidl dish will work just fine. I've installed one for my grandfather in Newry and he has more channels than he can remember (plenty of all flavours of euro soft !!!!!! too ). I have no idea whether or not the Five USA channel is included in the Astra (Sky) list, but the dish is directable so you can try different satellites to see what you can get.
Just to add, the sat box in the Lidl system works just fine, so no need to get a separate Sky box too.0 -

You are spot on about FreesatFromSky, I had ruled out freesat since it didn't appear on the normal (bbc & itv) freesat list...I didn't know there was a difference.
My dad bought a sat system in Lidl a few years ago, never opened it. Told me to take it and I would have but our eldest boy said all I would get is german !!!!!!.(Yes, how the hell would he know!!!) But I wonder, if we put the dish up and got a sky digibox on freecycle/freegle would that work?
Sorry for all the questions.:o
No,it will work.I installed one for a mate a few weeks ago.You can pick up a old Sky box from a car boot sale for less than a tenner.
(That's where I get mine from) but then you'll need to contact Sky & buy a viewing card for £25 as Ch5 US & Fiver are encrypted over here however Five is not.
Here you go!...

(I did a lot of Satalite installs around Londonderry due to the reception due to bad signal.Cables out as even tho Londonderry has Cable TV,the network does not support Digital Cable.)0 -

That is the plan for the repeater transmitters, the "public service" digital channels will be moved into the space used by the analogue channels. This does not include Five USA.
Also the power of the digtial transmissions from the main transmitters will be increased, these are currently limited to avoid interfering with the analogue transmissions.0 -

If you need help installing the dish, drop me a PM.Even tho I'm 80 odd miles from Londonderry (Newtownards) I still know installers who work for Sky's contractors over your way that I should be able to get to do you a homer.0
