He left you after being abusive and left you in £20,000 debt, yet you are taking him back? I think you have more to worry about than whether the DSS do you for fraud!Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0

How are you dealing with your 20k debt?0

Looks like you've been caught out!
It all seems very suspect, especially in light of the extra bits quoted by dmg, so my advice is hold your hands up and take whatever punishment comes your way.
No point trying to lie your way out of it as they're not stupid and it will just make things worse.
In answer to your question: if you didnt actually separate then yes you have committed fraud.0 -
Did he register any other utlilities where he was living? Or anything else - can he give you copies of any bills addressed to him which covered the period he was away.0

From reading your posts and some others you have posted on the site , this is MY opinion . Now im not saying that my theory is correct but this is what I make of your situation:
I think that you and your partner have never been seperated (or if you have it was for a very short time during which time you DID make a legitimate claim to a single claim of tc's)
I think you have been CLAIMING to be single and now that you are being investigated you are panicing about what to do !
It seems strange that now all of this is happening you want to stop/cancel your single claim and begin a joint one!
As long as you know that phoning tc office up and telling them that your oh has now moved in and you want to claim as a couple WONT stop any investigation they may be in the process of doing !
If they do feel that you have been less than hones then they will investigate until they are satisfied.0 -
I usually try very hard to just accept people's posts at face value but the first thing that came into my head was that this was a plan cooked up to try to get some extra cash to try to sort your debt out.
I apologise if that's not the case but you're not coming across as honest to me and obviously a few others on here either. The point is, if we (who are all just ordinary Joe Bloggs public) think there is something suss about all this, then clearly the powers that be, who deal with this kind of thing day in day out and who are trained to pick up on things, will perhaps think the same.
As I said, apologies if you are being truthful, if that's the case I can only suggest you very calmly and carefully write down everything you want to say and read it back to yourself to see if it makes sense before you speak to anyone else.
I honestly don't mean to upset you or attack you, I'm just offering an opinion, that's all.Herman - MP for all!
