IGNIS Electric Oven

Hi,
I'm hoping someone on here can give me some advice on what i can do about my Ignis electric oven, we bought our oven from B&Q on the 7th April this year, it was working fine until 9th June 2010 when as soon as it reached its required temp it cut out all our electrics, so we rang the ignis helpline which turns out to be Whirlpool, and they told us that an engineer couldn't get out until 15th june 2010, when he came he replaced the element and went on his way, later that day i tried the oven and yes it went off again exactly the same, we rang the engineer only to be told that he couldn't make it out till 18th June 2010, when he came out he was in the house 30 seconds when he said it was the fan motor and he wouldn't be able to get the parts until 29th June 2010, my husband then phoned Whirlpool again and that was the earliest that they could get the parts from Italy, they weren't very helpful for a customer services, we then rang B&Q for some help, they said that they couldn't help because they don't have a qualified electrian in the store but would ring the manufacturer on our behalf then he would ring us back, that was on the 18th June 2010 and still no reply, I have 2 kids in the house, I have just come out of hospital after having major surgery and we can't even cook, all we were told when we rang the customer helpline was " you've still got the hob use that instead" what i'd like to know is do electric ovens have the tendency to break down after just 2 months?? What rights do i have?? Can i ask for a refund?? Or i have just got to grin and bear it and live without my oven till they can be bothered to come and repair it?? Can someone please help i'm at my wits end??

If the fault is apparent within 6 months of purchase then its up to the retailer to prove otherwise. I believe you do need to give them a chance to repair but ultimately, there should be no significant inconvenience to the consumer (you). If there is, they should provide a replacement on a like-for-like basis (meaning it cant be of lower value/quality)

Its B&Q's responsibility as when you purchased the goods from them, it was them who you entered into contract with. See link provided: http://whatconsumer.co.uk/returning-damaged-or-faulty-goods/
