Not a lot else done today going to do online shop next I did sign up to an open university course today so start that next feb and have decided a total career change not sure that is such a good thing now as everyone keeps telling me I am to old to be doing it now??????????? I am only young;) Still its tough and it's done:D

I agree with Crafty Scholar, they are probably jealous that you have the guts to decide to do something else that you will enjoy more and in years to come when you have qualified and they are moaning about their job you can remind them that they could have done it too. I have no idea how old is too old, but OH has just qualified as a teacher at 47 and my dad set up his own business on a completely different field when he was about 55. Congratulations on going to do something that YOU want to do and all the best of luck. We will all be behind you to help x

Tell 'em to %*£& off (in your head, at least, if not to their face).

OU courses are non discriminatory. For my summer school in August, according to posts on the course discussion boards, there will be a couple of 19 year olds, at least one 73 year old and people from every decade in between.

The brain doesn't stop functioning at 21 (judging by some people, it hasn't even started up by then :)). You're going to be more motivated because you want to do this, you've got common sense, life experience and knowledge, and you didn't have the joys of the current education system's teach-to-the-test, so you are more likely to be proactive in your learning. (not a criticism directed at teachers - an observation based upon the younger people I know who expect all the information to be given to them in exactly the form it is required for an exam or coursework, complaining about useless tutors when the staff expect them to put some effort in themselves - although I could have just met a whole bunch of incompetents :))

    What will you be studying?
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Well done :T It's never too late to learn (whatever they say at Early Learning :rotfl: ).

The loss adjuster came, and was lovely :j He's really put my mind at rest, and it seems we're covered for everything. I feel so much better. Hope to sleep well tonight (which is just as well as the valerian tea did no good at all :( ).

Quick HHC to 3pm then, Come on Ingerrrrrrland (DH has gone to the pub; I might join him at half time :) )

Question: how long maximum should a pc take to defrag, must have put mine on before 6 and it's still going?!?

Thanks for your welcome messages everyone! Cheers!:hello:

claret sorry honey - I think your question got missed so i have brought it forward - there isnt really a max/min time for a defrag - if its the very first one you have done it may take ages but if you do it regularly now it should only take a few minutes - I am guessing its the same for laptops - maybe someone that does a defrag on their lappy can help???

had my assisted shopping this morning which we had to rush through as the DN was coming at 12 - in the end she didnt need to come but she saved me money i expect because i would have taken longer in Mr M and bought more!!!!

have had my monthly blood tests
and 1 x WM is out on the line - there's a nice breeze so it should dry quickly.
    window cleaners have just been
shopping has all been put away
got a new shredder so can catch up with the paper now

so no excuse now not to do some work:eek:
    toots xx

Afternoon all, DPs gone to the pub so thought I'd pop on. Been decluttering and more decluttering for 2 days, not none stop of course. Just did a paperwork box (which I should have filed ages ago) why is it the thing you need is always at the bottom? Anyway V5 was there, so car tax :( ordered now.

WM just finished and I have a big pile of stuff to shred from the box so I best get a wriggle on if I am going to get much more done before the boys come out of school, so toodles for now, hope you are all well and having a good day x
One day I might be more organised...........

claret my laptop takes about 30 mins to defrag, OH takes at least an hour. If it is the first time then it will take ages but I do mine weekly and it is not such a problem now. I checked about defragging last week and you can use it while it is defragging

Defragging~~ office one about 20mins when it needs doing, but often when you 'ask' it, it says does not need defragging at this point. Lappy at home about 5mins.

You are never to old to learn, good luck with the course.

Wonderful here at work, the phones are not ringing, I guess the people must be doing something.
