Whilst I totally agree with all that Martin has written and said about the merits of VOIP in recent months, he never seems to mention VoipCheap. It seems to me to be the cheapest and best VOIP option with a £10 + VAT charge every 90 days, balance carried over if you renew and unlimited free calls to many countries. You can use your £10 for 0870 and 0845 numbers on the odd occasions when there is no national code alternative available on "saynoto0870.com" or to send texts to mobiles (5p each). The software is also excellent.

Voipcheap seems to have changed so your credit never expires, but you get a varying window of 'free days' where calls to selected 'free' countries are free. (From 14 days for a £1.50 phone topup to 120 days for a £10 card topup). The biggest change is that UK calls are no longer free at all, even on free days. Time to switch, by the look of it.
