Best way to present clothes on Ebay

Hi all,
I'm having a massive wardrobe clearout, I've got loads of clothes I've hardly worn, still in perfect condition.
I've noticed a lot of clothes sellers have a mannequin to display the clothes, in my opinion they look alot better on a 3D figure than they do on a hanger.
In your opinion would it be worth investing in one of these? Would sales be more likely and would the clothes possibly go for a bit more due to the picture?
Also, how much do these things usually go for? I've looked at dressmakers dummies on ebay, they are going for about £30 or more, but they do lots of fancy things, I just want a simple model but I'm not sure the term to search for.
Any advice appreciated, thanks :j

You don't need a dress makers dummy. You can get plastic body forms that you can hang on a door that will do a neat job. Something like this. They do them in all sorts of colours - I prefer ordinary flesh coloured.

(not necessarily recommending this seller as I've not used them)
You might need a bulldog clip or something like that to help make the clothes look fitted, also have an iron on the go when you photograph as creased clothes makes me think they haven't been looked after very well. Also if you can have a white background it may help your photographs. HTH0 -
There was someone near me who used to hand the clothes on the washing line and take pictures.. Most of her items ended up selling for 99p or not selling at all due to the presentation. Or lack of...0

Ugghh. I hate that. I wouldn't buy anything that was hung on the washing line. It may be just me but I also hate it when people are wearing their clothes, it really puts me off. I don't want to see what it looked like preworn.0

Thanks for the link, that's a great help. Looks like the photos do make a difference and should cost less than £10 for the mannequin so could be a worthwhile investment :money:

Personally I prefer clothes that are either hung on a door, or laid flat, as then I can see the shape & cut of them. If you bulldog clip the back of them you'll alter the shape, so nobody will know what they're really buying.
Always try & sell in season. I'm getting amazing winter bargains at the moment, not in clothes but household stuff. Velvet curtains etc as people are buying lighter summery things now.0 -
Ask on freecycle if anyone has a bodyform or dressmakers dummy. I know a couple who got 3 this way and started a business selling clothes on ebay! I have a bodyform its now got a huge crack in it but must have had it nearly 5 years and its still usable.
My pet hate is people who cannot be bothered to get the photo the right way up so you have to turn your head to see. Its a simple right click and keep turning it clockwise or anti-clockwise will see it right. Has to be done before its uploaded though.
Add measurements people are more likely to buy and finally bid price is always higher if you do.
Use up all the free photo's ebay will let you. Show the details off use macro setting on your camera.
Mention material if its a good one like silk or linen.
Think about the title someone who puts
Dress
or
Monsoon Dress size 12 red silk
who do you think will get the higher end price?
Always put the size in the title that's what a lot of people search by. That is how I find a bargain trawling through all the ones people that forget or don't know to.
If there is a fault always mention it honesty is the best policy. Even faulty clothes sell well sometimes.
I hope this helps and good luck.
One other thing if you have the time it can be worth checking what feedback your buyers leave for others. If they leave a lot of red dots saying not recieved its worth sending recorded for your own benefit. They might say thanks for the refund a few times and leave positives. They might nitpick over time, postage minor faults other people would not pick up on. You can pre-empt some potential nightmares with a bit of tissue paper to aid presentation, refund small amount of postage after its posted just say it was not as much as expected my kitchen scales must have been off.0 -

I always like to do both - laid flat and on a mannequin. When listing in clothes you get 12 FREE pics so you may as well use them. Listings with just one pic are a complete waste and never do as well. I always do a close up of the fabric, stitching, label, buttons, collar, front, back, side view etc etc.0 -
Mannequins usually go for around £30 on ebay but I found a bodyform one for £10 - using fatfingers since not many people can spell "mannequin" (my seller certainly couldn't)
Clothes do look a lot better as a result and my sales improved. £2 Savers Club 2016 #21 £14/£250
£2 Savers Club 2015 #8 £250£200 :j

Wear them, BUT you may attract the pervy type of buyer.
Might get better prices? Been a few posts recently people offering themselves
for sale, or as good as...Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
