If your not in a 12 month contract, try ringing up and saying you want to cancel, when they pass you over to the people who arrange your cancellation, they will ask you why you want to cancel. Tell them that your not happy with having to pay for the box. They sometimes offer you a free sky plus box. If they dont offer you the box for free, say ok to the cancellation (as i believe you need to give them 30 days notice anyway) if they dont ring you back within say 20 days offering you a better deal, ring back up and say youve changed your mind and want to keep it.

Call there bluff, youve nothing to lose only the phone call.

My other half just got sky plus box for free with all the movies and sports for 12 months for £25.25. We originally rang up asking for the box for free (as there website is offering half price movies for 6 months) and it worked out about 25 quid or something, the woman then offered us the movies and sports for an extra 25p w month for 12 months instead of £25 for 6 months :) dont know how she did it, but apparently thats what where getting. Theyve yet to arrive though and weve still got the bill to receive.

Give it a go and see what they say. Sky are famous for looking after new customers only and forgetting about there old ones. Im a new customer though.

Phone sky and say you want to leave (have a comparable offer from a cable company ready). You should be able to get a half price offer as well.

If your outside your 12 month contract the worlds your oyster mate. Ring Sky up and ask to be put through to disconnections. Don't take any rubbish from the customer service rep as they are powerless to do anything. Once you get through tell them that you are seriously thinking of leaving to go to freeview and want to know if they have any offers that they can offer you to stay. They will probably try and use the recent Sky broadband launch as a reason to stay but just say you already get free broadband with Orange or someone. I'll try and find the other thread on this forum so you can read exactly what people have been offered to stay but I would imagine you would be able to get reduced subscription (up to 25% for 12 months) and a free sky+ box. Also make sure you stay with most channels as they will try and charge £10 a month otherwise. Good luck...

Sounds like a deal until you have to pay the extra tenner, I would rather just have regular Sky+, but for £99 they can stick it.

The New Sky HD+ deal is
£79 (+ £9.95 month)for existing Multi room who change out a current box for the HD box (£49 for the box the rest for engineer install of extra cabling and LNB if required.)

or £49 (+29.95 Month) new HD box for current subscribers without Multiroom.

I'm thinking of going for it and replacing my ageing standard SKY box for a HD+ one.
