Parking Ticket - 1 minute

It doesn't matter if its a night out or parking there for just a few minutes because you think you should be the exception of the rules, and if its properly signed as a taxi rank and you park there , yes you should be booked. And by the way parking on a taxi rank restricts people from making a living, if somebody was restricting you from earning, I think you'd have enough to say.
I've seen lots of appeals from taxi drivers who have parked where they are not entitled to because they have assisted a passenger with shopping or some other non exempt activity. They believed they were hard done by even though technically they contravened the traffic order. The moral of the story is don't be so quick to judge unless you yourself are whiter than white.
OP.....I suggest you request a copy of the traffic order to see what restrictions apply to the location.0 -
I give my opinion on this because so often people have the negative opinion of taxi drivers and the ranks they work from, these people pay an awful amount of money to use these ranks and people who park their vehicles there cause problems. The op has been booked for this, and I hope whatever the outcome they don't park on a rank any longer, they are lucky in some ways, where I worked they towed the vehicle away, I would see dozens of them put on the back of a tow truck.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -

They'd have to be damned quick to tow it in 45 seconds
Typical jobsworth traffic warden - never been the same since they went to Council control - now it's just a money making scheme.0 -
Yep it's nearly as bad as Crazy Taxi (game)Whatdoiknow wrote: »Sorry, but don't have much sympathy for taxi drivers, many of whom seem to think they own the road, especially those picking up or dropping off fares and blocking the road at the same time as happened to me the other night.
I am sure taxi drivers do their own fair share of illegal motoring which could get them fines, such as talking on mobile phone, stopping on double yellows - and I've seen some who think they're outsmarting the traffic lights by taking the left lane instead of the right one when lights are red on the right, but what's that - oh it's a no right turn sign.0 -
Yep those tow trucks were awfully big, on a friday and saturday night the drink drivers would park on the rank and get ticketed then towed, they took 2 at time and then put in a compound for a couple of days. Expensive night out, but at least there were sober taxi drivers to take them home, and those law abiding citizens couldn't drink and drive. All part of the service

Well it seems possible that the OP is not around. Maybe the discussions about taxis without offering help has put him off. He did come here for help after all.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Hi, i got a parking ticket today, i was parked sort of half in a taxi bay (which is allowed for up to an hour) and half in a bus stop. I went into the bank with quick deposit envelopes containing over 70k and was literlally 30 seconds and there was a traffic warden issuing a ticket. I explained but she said she had already put the registration in. On the ticket it says observed from 12.31 to 12.32, one whole minute, half of which i was stood talking to her!
Do i have a chance if i appeal?
Thanks0 -
