The clamshell ibooks are still worth quite a bit, but is highly dependent on the condition. Macs normally hold their value for longer as they are quite well built.
If you find the specs, it'll be easier to judge the value, although £30 is nowhere near the value of it.

The difference is I KNOW what im talking about! People adding their view on something they know little about isnt helping the OP is it?

First things, the OP asked for advice and opinions from everyone.

As it turns out, you claim you are the most knowledgeable in the matter, so as a result im sure she will take your opnions very highly, however other people are entitled to opinons aswell, and even if they arn't as well researched as you, im sure the OP will still find them useful, after all, we are all different, and have different opinions, and sometimes they arn't the same as we have shown.

I found that comment about the spec funny. When did that become a crime?

So Im wrong to find something amusing but its ok for you to say im rude?

I appreciate you found it funny, but i do think the way you went about it was very rude to the other forum members, as stated, you misquoted, and only took part of BigBouncyBall's answer, and by laughing at him/her, it seemed to be ridiculing his/her comment.

In BigBouncyBalls opinion, condition is more important than spec, as he/she is viewing it as salvaging the parts.

You're viewing it as a working machine, and thus for someone to use it, so its spec would hold more weight with you.

david29dpo view is that if working can still be an excellent machine to use, but your comment

    How do you know?
was also very dismissing and negative, thats just his opinion, maybe he/she owns one? maybe he/she knows someone who does? But all in all, how he/she knows this is irrelevant, thats his/her opinion, however he/she formed it.

And lastly, Welcome to talentedgeezer to the MSE forums, (registered today dont you know!) and thank you for a very constructive first post!
i agree with 15LSP & I think they have given good advice! I am a mac user too & spec is important! Saying it isnt is just silly. The OP will get more cash the better the spec. People expect dead pixels etc on an old laptop. The model has been upgraded 3 times since it was produced! They are no longer excellent machines, what are they 7 years old???

Im glad to hear you joined just to tell us you agree with 15LSP, and i agree 15LSP has given good advice, and also its nice to hear you are happy mac user

However, i think you will find no one has ever said SPEC ISNT IMPORTANT (apart from yourself), if you read the posts, you will find BigBouncyBall said something along the lines as "spec isnt as important as condition"

maybe you got this from reading 15LSP's misquoted comment when he/she was laughing at BigBouncyBall, and only took part of the comment, i agree at first glance it looked like it says "spec isnt important" but perhaps here is a valuable lessons about why its bad to misquote people, as now you have gotten the wrong end of the stick aswell!

Also, if you read the post fully aswell, the OP was planning to donate to a charity shop, so how much cash she would get for it appears to be for more curiosity sakes, or as to guide the chairty shop in their pricing structure.

They may be seven years old, and the computer market moves so fast these days that they may seem outdated to you, but im sure if they are in good working order that it will more than satfisy the needs of someone, wether it be as a whole product, or in parts to help fix someones old one.

Either way, perhaps we can go back to having useful comments about the mac now?

Dont assume anything about me. To me it reads that bigbouncyball was saying spec is not important as the condition of the laptop. Thats my opinion and not yours to judge.

You really should read the first post yourself. Its VERY CLEAR YOU HAVE READ IT WRONG!
he said I might get £30 for it but if that is the case then I would rather give it to a Charity Shop

Yeah it was my first post, but to put it bluntly I dont know why I bothered.

The owner of the laptop says it works...perhaps thats a give away that spec needs to be researched.
