Apple Clamshell ibook

A few years ago, when the film Legally Blonde came out, my 13 year old daughter begged me to get her a clamshell ibook like the one Reese Witherspoon used in the film. I can only plead temporary insanity but I got one for her and today, when I was excavating the tip which is her room I came accross it. It still works but I haven't a clue about Apple computers and I wondered if it is worth anything or should I just give it to the Charity Shop. I asked a friend who runs one of those Cash Generator shops thingies and he said I might get £30 for it but if that is the case then I would rather give it to a Charity Shop and let them get the benefit of any money it raises. It is a 10gb machine. Anyone know anything about them?

Im a mac user! Can you give me any more info? I might be interested in buying it. What colour? I take it is a G3? What os is it? I would say its definitely worth more than £30 but I would need to know full spec to give you a good realistic price.

wowzers, thats one lucky daughter ! :o

As far as how much it is worth, i have no idea, but anything with an apple logo normally goes for £££

see an example on ebay :

either way, im sure the charity shop with be more than grateful, and im sure they'll do there research and price it accordingly.

    Good luck :-)

If you can post the model number I can research it and give you info so you know what you have. You cant really compare your ibook to ebay at this stage as there are so many different specs. You need to know what you have first otherwise you will get conned or confused or both!

These machines are very sort after. Get it on eBay and it WILL sell. Depending on the condition; spec isn't as important as people are buying them to overhawl the insides, but condition is important. No dead pixals or chips in the plastics and you'll have a nice little eBay lot on your hands

    actually the full quote is

Not meaning to be picky, but i think its a bit rude to misquote someone and laugh at them when they are offering advice,

If you disagree with them, then say that, i see how both your points of view as valid, it does depend on the spec, (and the only information we have been given so far is a 10gb hd which isnt much to go on) but im sure some people out there dont actually care on the spec if thet are salvaging it for parts like the screen or battery which could be in general the same for all clamshells (there may be variations i dont know, but im sure any ebayer would do thier research the OP decides to put it on ebay).

The difference is I KNOW what im talking about! People adding their view on something they know little about isnt helping the OP is it? I found that comment about the spec funny. When did that become a crime?

So Im wrong to find something amusing but its ok for you to say im rude?

    How do you know?

  • i agree with 15LSP & I think they have given good advice! I am a mac user too & spec is important! Saying it isnt is just silly. The OP will get more cash the better the spec. People expect dead pixels etc on an old laptop. The model has been upgraded 3 times since it was produced! They are no longer excellent machines, what are they 7 years old???
