Biological clock

Has anyone else experienced this "desire" to have more children when they hit their thirties?

Its very bizarre I have never been a broody person and had my children out of "want" more than "desire" but all of a sudden I have this urge to have another baby:eek:

We have room and financially it would be fine but we are at a stage where the children are self sufficiant (to a certain degree;)) and we can relax a little without a newborn. I have no intention of returning to work for a while although I am thinking of doing some voluntary work.

I just don't get where this urge has come from? I even shed a little tear when I saw a film with a baby in last night and that is NOT like me at all:o

Just curious. I've never understood the desire to be a housewife.

The OP isn't only a housewife: she's a mother as well. A mother being at home full-time to raise the family doesn't appear to be the norm these days but to my mind it is the best possible way to raise them, especially when they're under secondary-school age. Other people live different lives but I suspect that isn't always through choice

Its not really a "desire" to be a housewife more the fact that I like to be around for the children and make sure the house is clean tidy etc during the day so that evenings and weekends are time for family fun. I appreciate that I am lucky to have this choice and it is only down to my husband and his salary that I have that option.

Nothing wrong with that if you can afford it....It was the norm not so long ago until society became greedy and started to live in a "want it all" society.

How old are your children and how would they view the idea?

7 and 2 and a half. They would LOVE it, we always wanted a big family originally but now feel like I am desperate for more:o:o:o

There is no question of me having more until I have shifted some weight:o:o:o but I wondered if this "desire" was normal and would go away?

Can you explain this comment in a little more detail? It doesnt make much sense to me.

i'm not in my 30's i'm 28 and have 3. but i have always said i want my big family before i hit 30. so i got 2 years, lol. but even if fell straight away one after another only have 2 more. so i will prob have some in my 30's. i love having children.

However my mum had me at 25, was very poorly for a number of years as was my dad and it wasn't until she got to late 30's she got really broody again . and have my bro a month after her 40's birthday. i think she would of like another baby soon after but my bro had cancer at 3 and half so wasn't right time. but when mum turned 50 ish she got soooo broody again. so i don't think the broodyness and maternal instincts ever do down.but sometimes the practicality takes over.

but if you can afford it and want it, then why not just try. if it is meant to be then it will.x
