Confused and Overwhelmed

a) Get loft insulated
b) Get cavity wall insulation
Cost of above with grants from your supplier about £200
c) Can you do anything about your windows?
d) ask your supplier to send someone round to survey for energy efficiency help.
e) Can you replace your boiler - local grants may be availble.
f) replace all bulbs with low energy.
G) make sure all appliances are turned off at night, buy some auto shut down plugs and timers.
Now have alook at your tariff, contact your current supplier first ans see what they can offer before moving. If you try to move you will have to pay all outstanding debts before they will let you leave, ask them if they can help you by spreading your debt on a Direct Debit repayment plan as well as calculating your usage on that plan.
Good luck
Thank you, i will work through this list, already replaced all the bulbs today!:)0 -

As you can see your gas has dropped to about 1 unit per day which is nowhere near the 190kwh average for early in the year. Looks like the heating was eating up your gas. Need to look to improve things before next winter. There is a website that you can log you readings on (cant remember name) which you may want to do on a weekly basis to track no much you are using.
Yes Spiro, definately the heating. I rang NPower and they said that somedays in Feb, we were using 11 units a day!!!!! They were very helpful and are sending out a surveyor to see how they can help, we may be entitled to free loft and cavity wall insulation. Found out i had been making lots of mistakes too, like keeping the gas fire on rather than the heating to warm one room, apparently the gas coal type fire uses more gas than the central heating DUH!
She also suggested putting cling film up at the windows during the winter. Looking at Tarriffs now, it looks like the online 18 with npower will save us about £500 per year, but will compare other suppliers too.
I just want to say thank you once more to all who have posted on this thread, all your comments have really helped and i no longer feel confused and overwhelmed, i feel in control :T:T:T0 -
Another option for the windows that is better than cling film and cheaper than double glazing are perspex sheets cut to the size of the whole frame or even better would be secondary double glazing which is almost the same but the perspex is in a track.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

I think spiro was thinking of http://www.imeasure.org.uk/
It's very good, helps take the confusion out of kWh, cu ft, m³ etc. and allows you to compare yourself to households that are similar to yours.0
