Have a 32" Sony LCD with built in freeview. This problem started 4 months ago. Seem to have a poor reception on BBC2 analogue channel. However on freeview BBC2 is crisp clear. The only channel i have missing on freeview is ITV, C4 and C5.

Can it be the ariel? Have retuned the BBC2 analogue channel and no difference.
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

  • TV's aren't my forte (nor is technology but that's another matter :D)

If you have the manual (probably an online one exists too) could you try searching for ITV, channel 4 etc which you are missing on freeview. Once you have found them on freeview, no point using analogue tv! You'll have to use the manual to find out how to do channel searches - sorry!

So what's your problem? Keep watching BBC2 on Freeview. ITV, C4 and C5 should be on Freeview too. Check here

Maybe you just need to rescan.

my problem is that my dvd recorder can only record analogue signal and not freeview. Normally record working lunch.

Working Lunch is not on for the next two weeks because of Wimbledon and it stops for good at the end of July:eek:

You are going to need a digital recorder within the next two years so why not bite the bullet now?

You can get one for less then £100 if you shop around. Some of them are a little temperamental so make sure you get one with a good reputation.

You are correct in a way. I have my DVD recorder linked to a cable box as well.

Am keeping an eye out for a decent Panasonic DVD recorder with a hard drive built in.

Pity about the working lunch program. Have found it very useful.

Freeview is transmitted using 6 multiplexes, each multiplex uses a different frequency.
ITV, Ch4,Ch5, E4 are all on multiplex 2.
If OP is having problems with this channel group it points to a poor aerial signal.
Could be a cabling problem or the aerial itself. If its happened recently then it may be the cable, if its always been like it then that would point to the aerial.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Analogue transmitters are being reduced in power and turned off.

I must have missed this part in your first post ;)

Doesn't your DVD recorder have a SCART input? Then you could connect the DVD recorder to the TV this way and record whatever you just watch on the TV.

To answer your question, yes, it's very likely a problem with your aerial. Did you check the link I posted for what channels you should be able to receive?

How does this help the OP record the programme should he/she happen to be out, with the TV switched off?

OP - is the aerial going in to the TV, or the DVD recorder? Is the DVD recorder connected to the TV with both an RF (aerial) lead and a SCART?

To get optimum analogue reception, you need to find out which transmitter is broadcasting BBC2 in your area, ensure your aerial is pointing at that transmitter and determine the channel number that the transmitter is broadcasting for BBC2 - then tune your TV to that channel number. There used to be links from the BBC website to transmitter info - if they're not there, go to https://www.digitalspy.co.uk, there should be info there.

    He/she can't and that's what I wrote. It's just a "workaround"...

The OP didn't really write what he/she wants to do in the first post. My crystal ball is in repair atm... ;)
