Stupid Loan 'Advertising' Rant

Just caught the latest one from Picture Loans. I was rabid enough at the last one (the smarmy brain donor on the phone to them while his equally cerebrally challenged wife videos him, who goes on to demonstrate his financial acumen by turning to his wife mid-way through the telephone application and asks her "how much do we want to borrow again? £25,000? YEAH £25,000!)
This one takes it to a new level though:
"And how much will that be each month? Really? THATS FANTASTIC!!"
Can we not join forces and try and lobby for legislation that puts a bit of honesty in these things? Something along the lines of:
"And how much will that be each month? Really? THATS FANTASTIC!!...oh, but you're saying because I'm paying less each month, I'll actually be tied to you for longer, and I'll probably pay a lot more in the long term. Mmmm, I hadn't thought of that."
You know...just a bit of balance.
Im still struggling to a more comedy advert than Ocean Finance, with the classic quote "They arrange everything for you, and don't babble you with science" (which I always took to mean "they'll give you as much money as you want as long as you secure it with your home and won't bother you with such details as APR's, final repayments, and such like")
Sorry, rant over. Anyone else got any favourites? Remember, where not allowed to mention Vorderman.

I once made the mistake of asking Ocean Finance about loans and they regularly send me nice letters promising me lots of money if I sign up. Thank God I never did. Haven't caught either of the adverts you mention tho, Grey Pilgrim. The ad that really annoys me is the one you get in the evenings on TV for Mastercard (I think it's Mastercard) ... "Life's so much more exciting when you say yes!!!" with that chap's face smugly beaming. I don't think he would have been smirking so broadly if the ad had showed him opening his statement!!!0

i dont know who does this one ...but i find it hilarious it's the one where the guy is mowing his lawn that goes on for miles his family watching all miserable..then when they get the loan it turns to colour and they are in the garden playing etc and he is sitting on a seated lawn mower in the smallest back garden you have ever seen happy as a pig in mud ...you just gotta laugh at those adverts aint ya0

Hahaha, the 'babble you with science' one was my favourite one ever too! Your rant made me laugh out loud, thanks!
'Was that thunder at you end or mine?' - because it's always tricky to look out of your bl00dy window and see if you're in the middle of a storm, isn't it?"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

I think I've seen that one..his lawn goes on for miles and the grass is about three feet deep. Seriously, if his back garden is as big as richmond park then maybe he should sell his house to pay off his debts rather consolidating with a shady finance company0 -

YEAH!!! What a cretin!!!
And doesn't he finish off with "those picture loan people are really nice"
Does it get any more wet and pointless than that?0 -
yeah that's the one then he get's loan money and buys a sit down mower but his garden shrinks ...sooo funny ...are people honestly that silly to think that a loan will make them happy or are these companies that silly to think that we will fall for this tripe ...but i do get a laugh at them at least ...that's after i have pointed out loudly to anyone in the vacinity how stupid these adverts are0

Every time I see that Picture Loans advert, I imagine that the video tape being made by the wife is about to land on Martin's desk together with a desperate plea to be featured in the Make Me Rich programme - 'Help me - I'm MARRIED to this moron!'Eek! Someone's stolen my signature! :eek:0

And he' such a funny guy that he pretends to throw the ball at her making her jump away sharply and jerk her head back. I have a secret fantasy where she gets really upset at him and lamps him with the camcorder.0
