House alarm acting strange.

Options
I have a wireless alarm system fitted in my house and have never ever had any problems in all the years it has been in, however last Thursday evening about 11-30 while I was in bed and the alarm had been activated, it decided to go off. I checked the control panel to find the lounge censor had been activated, I came downstairs and checked and found nothing suspicious, so I went back to bed and reset the alarm. Around 12-30 it went off again, again I checked the control panel only to find this time the hall censor had been activated, again nothing suspicious so I went back to bed.
Friday morning I checked the control panel again to try to find out what had really happened, it told me there had been no power cut, no jamming, no tamper, no low battery but that the censors had been activated. Anyway for the next week everthing seemed o.k until Thursday night just gone when at just past midnight the alarm went off again, this time it told me the door censor had been activated which I know for a fact hadn't because you have to actually open it for it to set off the alarm. I am getting very fustrated, as I now lie awake wondering if it will go off, if anyone can give me any ideas on this I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.:(

It could be a battery problem even though it isn't saying so. How long have the various batteries been in situ?

It could be that some of the programming is slightly corrupt and it may benefit from a powering down of the control panel.

The batteries are pretty new, and as I say it didn't state anything about low batteries on the control panel, not sure what you mean by power down, can you put in simple terms for me.

The universal solution: Turn it off and then turn it back on again.

    Good luck x

Oh thanks for that, I didn't think of the obvious. I shall try that and see what happens, already had the sky box blown this week and the washing machine is on the blink, can't afford any more repairs.:rotfl:

Spiders, moths and other flying insects are great at crawling inside and setting off the sensors. I've noticed a few around here at the moment - so could that be the problem?
Also we once had new batteries installed that turned out to be "duff"......
Hope you can sort it - we weren't very popular with the neighbours for a while !

Yes that's true, but the poster says that alarm conditions are showing on different sensors. So I think it unlikely that there is a bug in each of them. This one is more likely to be due to electronic derangement I think.

Yes I thought of moths at first until it happened to the door censor and realised that that one is a sealed unit and can only be activated when the door is opened, so I dismissed the moth theory.
I have now powered down so hoping the problem will cease, all o.k last night, so fingers crossed.
My next door neighbours car alarm keeps going off on it's own, the last time was 4-15am seems a coincident but no connection.

Letting the thing reboot is often a very good start.

Usually because its warm so "I'll leave a window open a tad to let some air in". Then blythely lock the car setting the alarm and off indoors. Bit of wind comes along which disturbs the interior sensors and off it goes.

    Cheers

Neighbours car alarm makes me wonder. If it goes off at the same time as your house alarm I'm wondering if they are sharing the same radio frequency?

A bit of a long shot, but has anyone close installed cameras at all? Sometimes these are wireless and the may share the same radio frequency as your alarm.

However, the cure might be effected by your powering down. I guess time will tell.

As far as I know next doors car alarm was going off way before mine started going off so not sure it's that, also if someone was sharing my frequency it would have shown up on the control panel but it was clear. I will ask around about any cameras being installed, it'a a bit of a mystery, and like you say steve I may just have cured it so time will tell hopefully.
