Ideas for guest bed

Options
Because I'm now going to be working from home much more I need to find more space in the spare room for office kit, so the single bed that is in there will have to go - unfortunately it takes up too much room. Has anyone seen any good offers or can recommend a folding etc bed that would be reasonably comfortable for an occasional guest and that doesn't look too much like camping? I'd love one of those that fold up against the wall but can't afford any more than £100!

Of course if someone's got a really creative and MSE idea for using the wasted bed that would be even better - I did think of putting a board over it and using it as a wide storage area but I don't think that would be very good, too bouncy - and at the moment it's just a dumping ground, I very rarely have overnight guests and the house is just too small to waste space in this way.

Thanks

if you only have the odd guest for say weekends, then the blow up beds from argos are good value.
you can get singles and doubles.
    various prices from 20-100 quid.
    Get some gorm.

Thanks - you've given me a hilarious image of my 85 yr old mother in a hammock!!! Futons take up just as much floorspace as the bed I have now I think, and an airbed feels like camping, though I've seen some on shopping telly that look a bit more like 'proper' beds. I'll follow these up, thanks.

We've got an Ikea 'Meldal' day bed in our smallest spare room - it looks really attractive, isn't bulky and not really 'bed like'.
I think you can buy special storage to go underneath too.
    Ours was only around £60.

  • Those airbeds really are surprisingly comfortable. I slept on one for several months and it was great. Not like roughing it at all.

There is a really good bed in Costco which is the equivalent of an aero bed . It costs about £30 -aero doubles are about £90. It self inflates with an in built pump you plug into the wall. It is a few feet of the floor so you can out regular bedding on it. It is really comfy and you can make it harder or softer to suit. It goes up in 5 mins and it self deflates again in the same time. It folds into its own bag and is super useful.

Could you give guests your bed and you rough it on the floor with an airbed?

It seems a bit silly having a dedicated guest sleeping area, when it hardly gets used. That's speaking as someone who had a dedicated guest room that never got used, so I turned it into a bedroom/sitting room for my teenage boys which is much more useful.
Here I go again on my own....
