Hi all, I had a accident on Sunday 6th June. there was some paving between my parking space, and the parking space infront. After driving off, i did not remember the paving, and went over it damaging the exhaulst. Called the Equality car insurance company, and this is when my troubles really came to light

They dispatched recovery, which came within an hour. I was told by the recovery man that the claims dept would make contact with me tomorrow morning.

Now the fun begins, I waited till 3pm for Equity to contact me, but noithing, so I telephoned there premium 0844 number On Monday 7th June They advise me they hve no knowledge of my car of were it i, but tel m to complete a claims for on the phone, can you imagne being presented this information???

Seems like the weekend people did not tell the claims dept.

I telephone on tuesday 8th June, they advise me my car would be inspected on wed 9th june.

On Monday 14th June I telephone the claims dept, they dont have a copy o the inspection, but advise m they wil contact a garage today.

I telephone tuesday 15th, now getting pised. Mor than a wek has passed and all hey have done is inspcted the car. I tell them I want o make erbal complaint. I am struggling without a car, I ned he ar as part o my business. Althouh I hve paid a premium for a hired car, they tel m i cant have on, ause the ar is not a total los or stole. I m struggling to get to work.

On wedenday 16th june, noihing so i ring agin. Thecar i still sitng at the recovery place.

Telephone 17th June, again noithin, the ar has now ben sitin in the sam place sine the 6th June. I sk about my complaint, an tol someone would contact me

You get what you pay for.

In addition, you've just cost yourself a whole load of money for possibly the next few years. A full exhaust for most cars is about £100-£150. If you have an excess that is this or more, you'll end up paying for the cost anyway. In addition to that, you'll have a claim lodged on your insurance which will affect your renewal premium.

Personally, I'd have called whatever breakdown organisation I was in, got towed to a tyre and exhaust place and got a new one fitted.

Whats worse is that the chance is that all you've done is pulled one exhaust section out of another and it'd be a job a garage would do for beer money.

Cancel the claim, get the car back, take it to Kwik Fit and get it sorted, probably in half a day.
