Hi i had an interview this morning/lunchtime which clashed against my sign-on time.
(Sign-on at 10.15am, the interview was at 11.20 but nearly 1 n half hours travel away)
I had phoned my jobcentre up yesterday and told them this, she took my details and said could i just come and sign-on in the afternoon?
I thought id be back in time so sayed yes thats fine.
However interview lasted abit over 1hour as i had to spend 30mins of it filling in forms,
and then i endedup on the worst slowest combination of slow buses getting back combined with nightmare traffic,
plus i accidentally got thee wrong bus at 1st and so wasted 30mins each way on that bus...
So it too nearly 3 and half hours getting back as the bus i got was the ultra ultra slow routed 1!!
So didn't endup getting back to my flat till about 4pm,
had a shower and ate something quick cos was all sweaty from the wet bus plus hadn't eaten anything since the night before,
and decided to walk to JC instead of take the bus as im fedup of wasting money just travelling to get money when its not raining or cold.
So left my flat at 4.35pm, got jobcentre at 5.02pm but jobcentre was closed!:(
I made sure that id asked the company to send me a letter earlier in the week to confirm my interview so i could prove it to the JC,
and im planning on phoning them on monday morning and just saying-
''I had loads of problems on the buses getting back from interview, and so by time i got there you had just closed,
but i can come in today and show you the letter as proof that i did have the interview that clashed with my sign-on on friday''.
Is there any way that i can get in trouble though for it,
or not get my jsa money paid to me on the monday??:huh:

Well, I'm no expert, but as a fellow JSer I think you'll probably be safe, as long as you've got proof of the interview.
Did the advisor on the phone tell you a specific time to go the jobcentre? If not you can't really be blamed for not arriving on time/missing your sign on.
And even if you do end up losing money for missing it, it'll only be a weeks worth of claim, and since JSA is paid 2 weeks in arrears, it wouldn't be til July that you'd miss your payment.
(good luck with the job BTW!)0 -

Why didnt you go from the interview straight to the JC to sign on, thats what most people would have done?0 -
The OP is a well known AE ... best not to encourage them!
Gone ... or have I?0 -
