hi,
Can anyone help, i have been looking online at the ovulation calculators and working out when im most 'fertile' to conceive. has anyone else had much lukc doing this or have people found actually taking your temperature more successful?
also i have read that its best to try and have sex before you ovulate to try and conceive? is this right?
thanks

Fertilityfriend.com is very useful as well - they do tutorials and it has pretty much all the info you'll need. I did just write you a big reply but have lost it and don't have time to write it all out again!
You're right about ovulation - once ovulation has happened you've missed the boat for the month - it's definitely all about the first half!
Good luck x0 -
I found this very hard, and later found out by using a fertility monitor that I don't ovulate in the 'normal' 12-16 days before next period, but just 9 or 10 days before it. Because I was getting so confused and stressed about it I shelled out on a Clearblue Fertility monitor-there are cheaper devices to predict ovulation etc, but for me the monitor took all the stress out of knowing my fertile time- you pee on a stick most days of the month, put the stick in the machine and it tells you whether you have low, high or peak fertility based on the hormones. The peak fertility days ( you get 2 of them if you are ovulating) are when you are just about to and when you actually do ovulate. Happily, my first month of using it I realised about having my unusual cycle and managed to conceive on one of the peak fertility days
I don't work for Clearblue or anything, it was a lot to shell out for the monitor but for me, being confused about when I was ovulating (I got very little of the egg white cm that you're meant to get, and taking my temperature every day seemed like a pain) it was really worthwhile, esp as I got pg the first month using it.
Good luck whatevery you try.Yesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams0 -
This is one reason why i dont use the pill, because i know my cycle so well that i always know when i ovulate. Or i hope im 90% sure thats what im doing when i feel the way i do at that time in my cycle!
I heard somewhere its best for the man to have a tommy hank to get rid of the older sperm to make way for the newer sperm. Dunno how true that is but i thought id throw that in there!
Good luck!0 -
Get to know your cervical mucus!
Usually it's thin and watery and you probably don't even notice it's there. Around ovulation, there is more mucus produced, it goes much thicker and looks like raw egg white.
If you keep an eye on that, you'll get to know when you will be ovulating in your cycle and that can help.
I used that with all three of mine and didn't bother with buying tests etc.
Good luck xxHere I go again on my own....0 -

Love is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy,And sometimes life can be deceiving,
I'll tell you one thing, its always better when we're together0 -

so can you only conceive when your ovulating? do you need to have sex before you ovulate or during? the online ovulation calculators give you a recommended days you are ovulating so as long as its during this time u have a better chance am i right in thinking?0 -
Sarcy apparently once the egg is released you have something like a 12-24hr window to concieve as the egg will be no good after this time so for optimum chance you need to really DTD before the egg is released so your OH little soilders are laying in wait for it then continue until your no longer ovulating.
I used the clear blue ovulation sticks you basically get a big smiley face when its time to DTD.:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0
