I've bought two items from bid.tv - a watch and a set of towels. Both are excellent quality. However, this was over a year ago - before they over inflated their postage costs...

  • When they were Bid-up.tv they had awful problems with delivery and customer service. Then they dropped the "-up" and seem to have got their act together - nice to know that leopards can change their spots.

No wonder everyone is a bit wary after the shambles that was Auctionworld.tv that got taken off air (was it last year?).

I think there are 3 channels (maybe more) that are part of the same company. You can usually tell too because they switch the presenters between the channels! I know that bid.tv and price-drop.tv are part of the same and there is a third (as I work on an industrial estate where they have a depot and see the names on the lorries) but can't think what the other one is.

After hearing so many stories it just put me off them. I agree that rip-off postaeg should be stopped and with the amount they must send out, you knw they must have wangled a good courier contract.

It definitely varies - I'm a bit wary about the unbranded goods, as even on the TV they don't look great quality. However, if you check up the prices, you can't go far wrong. I bought a box of 5 craft sets and paid under £20 inc P & P for the 5, which I thought was pretty good. When they arrived, I looked them up by the name, and discovered they retail at a minimum of £8.99 each. Definite bargain. Also bought a leather handbag there - very good (if a bit stinky; had to air it for a week to get the 'leather' smell out of it).
  • delivery is dreadful but I would prefer to use web so I dont have to talk to anyone

Bid Tv, Price-Drop TV and Speed Auction Tv are all part of one company called 'Sit-Up Channels'.
I have bought quite a lot from both Bid-Up and Price-Drop, but you have to do your research. I automatically add the £8ish postage onto the price, and if it still seems reasonable then go for it! I did have bad problems with delivery drivers leaving goods on the doorstep, but they have changed delivery company, and is now much better. However, their customer service leaves a lot to be desired! So they're brilliant unless something goes wrong. Then you need patience!
They used to have items that suddenly dropped to £1. They were worth paying the postage on, but seemed to have stopped now.
Definately buy over the website. Don't pay for a phone call (which incidentally used to be £1 but is now £1.50 I think). Also, always look to see if the item you want is on the website clearance auctions first, as these often go for less than the live auctions.
I hope this is of some help!
  • Muggle - your post is absolutely correct. I have the same experience and agree with everything you say. I've used them all regularly with few problems.

Use the website - and research prices before you bid. Don't forget to take the postage costs into account.

theres another sky tv shopping channel, also on web https://www.pricebusters.tv they seem really cheap. Has anyone bought from these ?

    Hi,

I have purchased afew items from Price Busters TV with no problems.

They currently have a "Buy any combination of multibuy products for a single P&P charge" Just look for the Multibuy symbol (Some items do not qualify for free P&P due to their weight/size etc). It states what items are Multibuy on the screen. In otherwords, you can buy say 4 items and pay one P&P. I think there is a limit to the amount of items you can purchase and within a set time period. Take a look.
