As an alternative, can I recommend NOD32. You pay and download it online.

    £23

    Comparison to Norton here:

Used it for a year or so now, I like it because the program is tiny and doesnt slow your PC down like "others" :)

Or the free version of AVG (viruscan) and ZoneAlarm (firewall). Very highly recommended. Tried Mcafee once and it was a complete nightmare
  • McAfee.........get it cheaper here

    only £8.49!

Mind you I got it ......it totally screwed up my PC...I ended up re-installing XP....It conflicted with a few of my other security progs.

For DEEP scan (once you are infected....so to speak!) I reccomend ClamWin.
Its FREE. It takes about 4 hours to deep scan your system. I run it every Sunday - and It usualy finds at least one keylogger or Trojan that has got through. This is because no Security software is never 100% up to date (what comes 1st...the Trojan........or the definition to block it?.......I'm afraid it needs to be invented....for somone to detect & add it to your virus/Trojan database).

    Hope this helps
I am NOT a Woman! - its Overland Landy (as in A Landrover that travels Overland)

 Just go to Amazon and bring up the latest Mcafee product and read the user reviews. Very enlikening indeed
  • McAfee is awful, don't buy it however cheap it is. Its on my sisters machine, and it causes no end of problems. Every few days its keeps telling her that her subscriptions have expired even thought its only a few months old. Its clunky to use and slow.

Have to agree with previous posters here, have paid in the past for virus protection etc… till a friend put me onto avg and zonealarm, both fantastic programs with frequent free updates cannot recommend highly enough:T
