Nearly everything below is recycled: the sleepers, the bricks for the edging/ sandpit/ water feature. The wood for the window boxes (where I grow lettuce), the hardcore underneath the edging was recycled.

Many of the plants I got for free off freecycle, the water feature I got for for free, same for the kids things.
Some of the plants I bought off gumtree, all the others were in sales / special offers or just off freecycle. Even the turf was half price

Particularly pleased with the railway sleeper steps as it was too steep for my children before. Now the garden is very child friendly (apart from the arid / spiky area). :rotfl:

Roosterpotatoes: Why do you cut the head off broccoli to promote the side shoots? What does that achieve? I have planted quite a few broccoli and two are getting very big and wide - should I be doing something?

I read somewhere (cant remember where:mad:) that it reduces the likely hood of the plant bolting and the more side shoots, the more broccoli, well, thats the plan any way :rotfl: Mine are about 2 1/2 feet high and ive planted them far too closely together, as long as you dont let them flower yours will be fine :):money:
