Have you ever forgotten your Wedding Anniversary?

Today is my anniversary, 22 years, and I gave my husband his card and a nice bottle of red wine.
We had just had breakfast in bed and he was reading the paper before having a shower. He looked at me, astonished, said "oh no I forgot" and put his hands over his face and started crying! I wasn't angry or anything and asked him why he was so upset. He just kept saying he couldn't believe he had forgotten.

I can probably count on one hand the number of times I have seen him cry.

Anyway, he has just rang to say we can go out for a meal. so I said yes even though i bought steak lol.

I feel bad that he feels bad.

My DH and i BOTH forgot our FIRST anniversay!!!!!!!
We made a joke of it and bought each other a card in the supermarket, part of the reason is we had been together ten years before marrying and always celebrated that date!!!!!
I should just try and make a joke of it and tell how very unbothered you are it is after all just one day.
If he wants to take you out let him it will probably make him feel better.
I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.

My hubby and I frequently forget! It always seemed important before we had children but it just slipped a bit after that! We've been marrired for 37yrs this year so I guess our forgetting wasn't
    detrimental to the relationship!!:p

    Debt-free and Proud!
Our first baby was born five days before our first wedding anniversary. My husband bought cards for us to give each other, but we never got around to writing in them due to the exhaustion!

Every year since we get caught up in family visits and birthday celebrations for her, and tend to miss out on celebrating our own milestone. We are both as bad as each other though, so it doesn't bother either of us.

Baby number two just arrived. When we registered the birth the registrar asked for the date of our marriage. I gave my daughter's birthday, cos that was the one that was stuck in my mind. Doh!

I do remember sometimes but as we're usually on holiday at that time we often miss it. Married over 40 years so it hasn't done us any harm!
PS Not good on other celebratory days either! My birthday I remind him about a week in advance so I do get a card!

It's my WA today too. 11 years and though we usually have a meal or something this year DH booked us in for a 1/2 day spa break, just come back from it and when the staff found out they gave us pink champagne and a complimentary therapy. But before I make the OP and her husband feel worse - I should point out that the reason for this 'more than usual' gesture is cos England are playing tonight, so guess who's down the pub with his mates. :D

I don't mind, have had my treat and will be ordering an Indian takeout for me and kids and hubby can eat what's left when he gets in.

BTW- I bought a card, have yet to write on it , hubby told me he hadn't got round to getting one and to save mine till next year.
