As far as I know the requirement to collect Advance Passenger Information is a requirement of specific countries to which you may be flying from the UK - looks like you do need to supply the info for the Canary Islands. You won't need to give the information again on your return.

    http://www.iknow-canaryislands.co.uk/tourist_information/canary_islands/canary_islands_essentials.htm

Travellers to Spain, including the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands, are advised that the Spanish Government has now introduced new requirements for airlines to provide personnel information on passengers to the Spanish authorities prior to aircraft departure from the UK. This requirement is referred to as Advance Passenger Information (API or APIS data).

I'm not sure why your infant's clothes couldn't be in the same case as yours, but having never had kids let alone traveled with them, maybe there is some reason...but if the baby has a baggage allowance, wouldn't that be a good thing as it would allow you to take more?
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

You only give API the once before you leave, with other airlines you just log in to their website and input your passport info.
Regarding the infant clothes and 10kg - as long as you dont go over the weight liimits it wont matter whose clothes are in which case!

we was looking to take less baggage as possible due to already taking my case and my boyfriends case then a bag for on board and the baby stroller. i was hoping i would be allowed my childs items in along with mine, but there saying no now.. so i'll have to take 3 cases a cabin bag and stroller and not forgetting a baby to carry, i feel its quite alot. :(

They are talking rubbish. Most savvy travellers put a little of each person's clothes in each case so that they all have something to wear should one of the cases not arrive.

You could split the infant's allowance between your two cases as TC allow pooling:-
    Flythomascook FAQs and Help pages.

"Passengers can combine their checked in baggage allowance as long as individual items of baggage do not exceed 30kgs for lifting purposes"

They may be getting mixed up between hold bags and cabin bags - most holiday companies allow you pool hold bags (eg if you have 3 at 15kg each you could take two bags at 22-23kg each), but don't allow this on cabin bags (you couldn't take 1 cabin bag at 15kg instead of 3 at 5kg each). What stuff goes in what case/bag is up to you.

Thomas Cook have been having problems with their API database for some time now - only option at the moment is for the details to be taken at check-in (hopefully they'll email people if/when they get it fixed). I think airlines need to gather this for all flights out of/back into the UK now (I've had to enter details for Portugal and Greece this year, was only Spain last year). Anyway, it's only passport details and you'd only need to provide it twice if you were flying out and back on different airlines.

thanks for the replys, youse have been really helpful.

so we would be able to split his clothes between our 20kg allowances and never mind the 10kg then? we're not taking alot as its only for a week. i dont want to get caught out and having to pay..

EDIT: would be really great if we were allowed to split his clothes and make 25kg each for the 2 cases but have a feeling we would get charged for over our limit.

AhAh.. found a link for chld/infant allowance http://www.thomascookstyle.com/holiday-information/flight-information/children-and-infants (presumably yours is under 2 years old).

Looks like the allowance is for child-specific stuff which may be packed separately or as an 'extra' in the adults bags (dunno whether you'd have unpack to prove the child-specific stuff - unlikely though). Don't forget you also have 2x5kg allowances for cabin bags, and if it does get a bit close wear a coat with big pockets... (although the 50kg for a week is a lot of stuff).

And... it's not you - TCs customer 'service' ....isn't (IMHO of course).
