I cant help with other networks but Ive just found out the same think after I got a bill with £13.50 worth of texts from USA to Uk on it from O2

After phoning them to query this I got told well it all changed back in February and its all over the website and when I got to America I should have got a text telling me to check the website for calls / texts costs

Yeah right like Im going to be able to find wifi the minute I get there or spend some ridiculous amount on roaming to check how much its going to cost me...

    get real O2..

Unfortunately Ive just signed up for a 2 year iphone contract (dont want the new one and my old phone had died) so cant get out of it that easily....

    bah

Buy the 4 on payg or sim free and carry on using your current acc the way it is...

I was thinking this but at £499 to buy it sim free it would probably still work out more expensive than paying for the texts.

Works out as about £21 a month.
If you could hammer the cost of your current contract down (by upgrading it as a sim only) you might get somewhere.
I've seen people get a sim only deal out of retentions of 10 to 15 quid, which make is £31 to 36 a month over all ??

Apparently I couldn't continue my old contact in a sim free phone because the iPhone 4 takes a microsim :(

Just found out that if I take out the new iPhone 4 contact I will be losing my unlimited data as well as international texts as the new contract will be capped at 500GB!

    Even more annoyed now :(

There are a number if online guides on how to cut down your sim to fit, takes 2 minutes and a craft knife.
