Yes, I'd suggest 2 or 3 tanks and measure any improvement, then switch back to your old petrol and see if that improvement (if any) remains.

If it remains then the BP fuel has helped clean your injectors a bit, but there is no need to continue to use it except for once in a while

It it goes away again then the fuel actually made a difference.

I'd be interested in both MPG and MP£ figures if you feel up to it.

It will take me a couple of weeks to empty this tank, but I'll do my best to produce some figures.

I could be talking tosh here but I seem to remember from driving in France that 95RON is often not available (if at all?). I only recall pumps with 98RON

As an owner of a turboed Japanese import, I found it ran like a sack of shi* on 95 ron, so always filled with 97+ and octane boosters.I even used to make a 15 mile round trip to fill up with optimax before better fuel was available more locally. You can really feel how much its holding back on 95 ron and add in a hot day and you may as well be driving a fiesta.

Most "average" petrol cars made in the last 10 years are able to auto-adjust to petrol up to 98RON which means in theory there should be a benefit in using it. Questionable as to whether this benefit is worth the extra cost.
In practice I've never been able to tell any difference between 95RON or 98RON+ in "non-performance" petrol cars.

As petrol gets more expensive the 5p difference in price reduces in significance (%)

Well here are the results of my first test

From the last tank of 'Super' petrol, I got a distance of 461 miles, compared to around 420 from Sainsbury's petrol, approx 10% increase in distance travelled. Seeing as the petrol only cost 5p per litre more, in my car it seems worth doing

Have a high performance Honda Civic and it gets pretty much only Shell V Power @ 99 RON or 97 RON when i cannot find a Shell station .

i can tell the difference in even 97 and 99 RON , but my Car requires 97 RON min .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:
