Personally, I would say carrots, spring onions, salad leaves, and definitely peas and beans (climbing/dwarf/french etc). We're relatively new to growing our own, and have found all of these to be very easy and pleasant to grow, with brilliant end-results.

Tomatoes are pretty simple and something like Cos Lettuce just needs some compost and a flowerpot! Both grow easily from seed and are very cheap starters.

Lettuce, spinach, parsnips, peas and beans are all very good. Strawberries are good too!

    Depends on your soil type.
Carrots, easy if you don't have clay soil, if you do have clay then you will have interesting shapes to play with:D

courgettes.....you'll be pleased when it stops producing them!
grows in any soil, plant in sunny spot, water and wait for the never ending supply;)

Have a go at what veg you like for starters and then you will appreciate the difference in taste - home grown is superb! I started with spuds and have moved on to carrots, beetroot, peas, tomatoes, lettuce, rhubarb, courgettes and just this year parsnips, garlic, onions, strawberries, raspberries, peppers, cucumbers and beans.

Also, consider how much room you have available ensuring that it isn't all crammed in! He says as his patch is totally overcrowded. ;) Some crops will need a lot more room than others.

I second/third/fourth (!) all of the above and would also add radishes to the list - sooooo easy and fast growing :j

If only mine were, when I was a nipper over 50 years ago I grew radishes no problems, now the blighters just run to seed, so I buy them form Lidl and hang my head in shame

Mind you the mange tout & broad beans are doing well this year

I would have a read through the suggestions, and then grow the ones you like & that are dear, and normally far inferior in shops, peas & beans are to my mind the obvious choices in this category, but new spuds in a bucket near Christmas must come close second

I would say, runner beans, radishes. and lettuce, nothing is really hard. read up on it on the internet and then try it out. most things grow quite easily.

Peppers, chillis, tomatoes, herbs, strawberries, salad leaves and carrots. As there are many different varieties you can grow them in pots if you have the wrong type of soil. Though I should add that some herbs are better grown from cuttings than seeds.

Courgettes, cucumbers and oddly enough aubergines are easy to grow if you live in a warm enough area in the soil.

I am new to gardening/growing things too and I have found that Broad Beans are very easy and also chillis and tomatoes.

This year I am branching out and have courgettes, lettuce (that was easy), strawberries, mini cucumbers, green beans and peas.

    Good luck
