Don't bother buying catridges. Just get a inkjet refill kit from Asda or Tescos. Cost is less than £5-00 for a set of colour ones and less than £5-00 for a set of black ones. Just follow the instructions to refill your old cartridge. In the worst case, you will need to drill a little hole in your old cartridge and then inject the ink into it. I've been doing this for months now without any problems with my brother printer. The refill kit will last months (if not years) and will refill your old cartridges multiple times.

Printer ink cartridges are a complete rip off so I help the above helps. :j

Oh yeah! So this will work for all cartrides will it? It will work for Epson will it? It's a better idea that buying compatibles for a fraction of the prices you quote is it? geez
A fool may give advice but the one who takes it is the bigger fool.
  • I don't mind paying £3.28 for remanufactured cartridges from inkcycle for my Epson Stylus SX200. I have read conflicting reports about the messy business of refilling your own so I won't go down that path. But £7.39 for the cheapest genuine Epson cartridges is too much.

Awesome attitude, you'll do well in the Techie Stuff section.

You missed the bit about it refilling the cartridges multiple times didn't you?

And the bit where he didn't say it worked on all printers.

At least he's trying to help rather than complaining about other people's suggestions about how to save money on a money saving site...

Also the bit about if the ink in the cartridge falls below a certain level the chip will block out and still see it as empty no matter how you fill it.

    Hi swvlliafan,

No bad karma from me. As I said before, I just ignore individuals like Sowilo and hope they go away. You probably will find he/she works for a printer cartridge firm.

Anyway I'm totally chilled out and looking forward to the foootball tonight. Come on England !!!:j:rotfl:

I am not as polite and courteous as sirmarcus.

Sowilo must be stupid and is totally discourteous with his response to sirmarcus. As other postings have said on this thread have said, sirmarcus has given us a suggestion to save money on a moneysaving website. For me, I didn't realise that you could get refill kits until I read sirmarcus's posting a few minutes ago. I have also spoken to my mate, who is an IT professional, who has confirmed that there are no problems with a refill kit for my printer. I am currently spending £15 (off e-bay) for a set of 4 remanufactured cartridges for my printer; so I will save a lot of money by using refill kits.

Lets hope Sowilo gets the message and disappears somewhere !!

    Thanks sirmarcus .

I think the value of the original advice is limited, because the major ink manufacturers go to a lot of trouble to ensure that their ink is of the highest quality and works sucessfully with their printers - they ought to, because they charge a fortune for it! Compatible cartridges may work, or they may not.

We had an immense amount of trouble with a large A3 inkjet printer from HP when we tried compatible cartridges "to save money", and it took several months of hassle and expense before we decided to move back to the 'real' HP cartridges. Since when, we've had no problems whatever.

Conversely, we're still putting 'compatible' laser toner cartridges into our ten-year-old HP LaserJet 4M, and the slightly newer LaserJet 4100...
