all very nancy negative here! - I would go in and ask - be very polite about it. You never know. Alternatively, you may be able to get a substitution for something else instead.0

Agree, if the vendor doesn't want to help then basically legally you're stuffed. However, it's likely failing to give you a receipt was just a mistake and they'll probably be fine giving an exchange or refund, particularly since as you say they should remember you. Perhaps, we shouldn't all assume the worst.
If they refuse then you could always kick up a fuss if the shop is busy!0 -

I couldn't agree more.I'd be really interested to see how she gets on. Unfortunately in this day and age, I often just look at the legal view. I tend to forget that the majority of people out there, are decent folk, who would do the right thing anyway.
Good Luck. I have my fingers crossed for you.Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -
Hello to all and sorry I have only just logged back in. Update: Yes I did get a full refund. First was told no, because no receipt, I said you never gave one, she said you left in a hurry so I put it in the bin! I didn't leave in a hurry, my mobile tinkled, I was in shop doorway for a few minutes. So, I offered to stay and go through the bins. Then was told bins been emptied (but I knew it wasn't a bin collect day - local shop- so I know) I said this, and after a hard stare..the till was opened and £20 was put in front of me to take. I will never leave without a receipt again, lesson learned and will be wary when told "no card payments" I have just called in at a Charity shop, bought £25 worth of stuff and they were more than happy to take my card payment, even refused my offer of adding a bit to cover fees! So happy days got refund and fab bargains in charity shop...thank you all who made replies.0

Silly woman - so she was happy to agree that you bought the bag yesterday? Why did she need further proof of purchase?0
