Damaged purchase

Hello all, I bought a bag today, from a local accessories shop, was told they did not accept any card payments and so I paid cash. As soon as I got home I took the bag out and one of the metal studs off the front was missing which I found in the bottom of the carrierbag (my own carrier, to save on plastic bags) I've now realised they didn't give me a receipt for the purchase. If I go back first thing tomorrow, I'm sure the seller will remember me as we chatted for a bit, will I be eligible for a refund with no receipt? Or do I have to accept a replacement? I do not want a replacement, for the price being charged, these goods are (on closer inspection) a bit on the shabby side and prone to falling apart. I did think it odd that no card payments were accepted. The shop was not overstocked so maybe shortly to close perhaps. Thanks for any advice.

the vendor was in a good (ish) mood today mainly because it was so sunny, we chatted about the nice weather too and she wanted to sell me other stuff ie a beach wrap. I just had enough cash on me for the handbag £20, can't really afford to lose though, the bag was for a special do, so now no bag and no cash ?0

You have nothing to lose and £20 to gain through trying. although if I were you and the vendor offered a replacement I would count that as better than nothing!!:silenced:They Were Up In Arms wrote: »I think tabskitten is a crying, walking, sleeping, talking, living troll :cool:0

As other posters have said, nothing wrong with trying and seeing where you get. If the bag was obviously bought from their shop, they may be nice and offer a replacement.
Just remember, always get a receipt if you're paying cash (apparently proof of purchase doesnt have to be a till receipt, can be a bank statement but obviously you wouldnt be able to use this with cash purchases). You keep using that word.
