Orange iPhone insurance

If I take out orange care which is £12 how long do I have to pay for? Is there a contract?

Before anyone takes out any form of mobile phone insurance, they should check the cover under their home insurance. If you have "away from home" or "personal possessions" (same thing; different name) cover, the chances are your phone is already insured without you having to pay anything.

The excess is likely to be £50 (mobile phone insurance is usually £25), but that's the same as 3 months premiums. Annual cover for "away from home" insurance is likely to be around £60 or £5 a month and covers everything you wear and carry in everyday life (handbag & contents, camera, glasses, sunglasses, etc) anywhere in the world.

Pretty sure there's no minimum term on Orange Care, saying that £12 a month is excessive, Orange Care covers any other handset for only £6 a month

I have a feeling that for the iPhone they've made it 12 months as people were losing their phones, then starting the insurance, claiming and then cancelling. Which is fraud.

So say I started my insurance and lost my iPhone after 11 months and had a new one i could stop the insurance a month later?

I believe so.

Although I'd advise against ever claiming in the month a new iphone come out, the moron contingent think if they say they've 'lost' their phones they'll get a the newest one if they claim. iPhone claims go up by as much as 50% in the weeks after a new one arrives and all claims get looked at with a fine toothed comb.

What do you mean why do anything else?

As for using insurance to get a new phone they wouldn't give you one would they. With insurance they replace the model you have. So say you have a 3GS that's what you'd get.

Orange Care only covers like for like replacement, you wouldnt get the new iPhone, you'd get a replacement of the one you 'lost'
