I suggest OP pays the fine. The company I work for expect you to pay should you commit any violation whilts using a pool car. If I fail to notify them, it then becomes a disciplinary matter, which can result in dismissal.

You are not telling me that they would make you pay a scam fine from a private parking firm. Please tell me they are not that stupid, do they send money when they get phishing emails as well?!

Would they let you appeal a Council PCN or would they just make you pay it?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

from the company point of view its far easier to pay the fine and be done with it
    making the employee pay
for the employee its simpler to park in the correct places

strange position for a company to take when private parking tickets are a known scam, do they have money to throw away in this economic climate ? Its not as if you can put these tickets onto the business. And very often people do park in the correct places, like the person parked in a loading bay in a van unloading stuff for a shop, should he pay the ticket as well ?
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

what money are they throwing away if the employee is paying?
employee signs for using the vehicle and takes responsibility for its use while in their care
fairly standard that they will be responsible for avoidable issues like parking/speeding tickets in that time period

as someone who has done deliveries before, its a risk.some companies will refund parking fees but not parking tickets
    so what would you do?

but it could be argued that they are not tickets at all but speculative invoices, in regards to the real pcn they should always be appealed, and to make sure that the drivers are taking photos of the lines and signs and the time of day etc, I have been reading on a few websites that almost all tickets issued against you can be appealed because there are issues.

A private parking charge notice is not a 'fine'. Custardy, does your Fleet Manager not have any clue about the difference between that and a real fine from the Local Authority or the Police?:

    http://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/2009/5/28/question-private-parking-fines-fleets-urged/30698/

It's also highly doubtful IMHO that the driver's contract or any t&cs allow the company to deduct from wages for payment of private 'parking charge notices'. Look closer at those t&cs - it probably says 'any parking fines/offences'. A private PCN is neither.

Read the linky and send it to your Fleet Manager. He really needs to learn about this scam if he is really so credulous as to pay any old invoice that quotes the car reg number and 'looks official'!

Can I send him one, seventy pounds seems a nice round figure?! :rotfl:

it wouldnt be an issue for me(if i was in a job right now that invlved driving) as i dont get tickets
Im very careful where i park and if required will pay for parking or walk further so i can use a single yellow or whatever
Edinburgh is not the city to be chancing your arm on parking
as for the ticket, the OP has never said it isnt an official PCN

Agreed, the OP was posting about a real Council PCN in fact. :)

The thread has gone off on a tangent about private parking charge notices because of those posters who were just saying 'pay it, my company would pay any parking fine, blah blah...'

I agree as well about being careful when parking in Edinburgh, on the public highway at least (isn't it one big Council CPZ?). However, I would certainly chance my arm on parking on private land in Edinburgh. Not only are PPC tickets unenforceable but Scotland doesn't allow private clamping either. Safe to park all day in a Supermarket car park then!

TBH i hardly drive in the city unless i really have to
    not a car friendly city

Same with my City (much further South but the Council hates car-drivers).
