cheapest car hire london

I hope I am posting in the right place as this sub-forum seems to be for overseas rentals. My excuse to posting here is there is no domestic car hire forum available.
I am looking to rent a cheap car over one weekend next month. Basically two days car hire. The cheapest I've found was 35 pounds per day. It seems very expensive as I've rented cars from 15 pounds a day overseas.
Why so expensive? Anyone can beat my cheapest 35 pound per day quote?
Look forward to any reply:j

For London, £35 a day is cheap. I'm afraid there is no one firm to direct you to. Your dates, your requirements, etc are all going to influence the price. You need to do the leg work and shop around, but I'd say that's the best you're going to get.
PS. If driving in Central London, don't forget your obligation to pay the Congestion Charge. Some rental firms may be able to offer you a hybrid car that is exempt, but not for the price you're looking at.0 -
thanks for the reply.
I have shopped around and check prices at different pick up locations but can't get any cheaper.0 -
Seems like you have found the going rate, anything much cheaper might have a catch.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Actually the best rate I found was around 34.75, If booked online through a cashback site assuming the cashback would track it could take about 2.25 off the price making one day's rental 32.50.
That is the cheapest I managed to find0 -
Update*
Just found a quote for 27.97 for a day's hire. :j0 -
I'm new to car hire but I've just found an interesting car hire auction from Hertz. You can bid for free for a 3 day weekend car hire and the lowest unique bid wins. Sounds interesting and a bit different. Last winning bid was under £6 for the whole renta; which is amazing compared to paying over £100 typically. I've jsut placed a bid on hertz.co.uk/auction0

oooh, you can also get 50% off from their Facebook wall. Didn't know that you could get discounts from brands on Facebook. That's really interesting. facebook.com/HertzUK0

Europcar does a weekend package which is available from some London branches:

I used to find that £25 per day was feasible in London, although not always available.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0
