I called into Halfords today and the lad entered my registration into the computer and said the spark plugs I need are Bosch 510. I'm going to phone Renault tomorrow and make sure these are the correct ones before I waste £20.00.

I noticed the sockets in Halfords, they had 8mm and 9mm for around £2.50 - £4.00 which should go onto the end of the extension/box spanner.

I just want to be able to remove my old spark plugs first and make sure of the correct size before I purchase some new ones. :)

an 8mm or 9mm deep socket is different from a 8mm or 9mm spark plug socket are you aware of this?
also if they are 8 or 9mm spark plug sockets are they thin wall versions? i haven't noticed thin wall halfords sockets yet.

To be honest I dont know if the sockets I was looking at would remove the spark plugs. The lad in Halfords didnt seem to know any more than me either and when I said are these the sockets to remove spark plugs he just agreed but I could tell he wasnt too sure himself.

He then wanted me to purchase these new spark plugs for £20 and try the sockets on them but he couldnt open the spark plugs unless I purchased them first. So I could have been stuck with the spark plugs that either fit or dont fit but still unable to remove my old ones.

As I said I will be phoning Renault in the morning, hopefully they know the answer :) It will either be 8mm or 9mm socket I need. If it's the 8mm one I can get one from the car parts stockist for £5.00 plus vat but they dont have the 9mm one.
