What a load of !!!!!!!!s you've had replies from.
Try over at the Pepipoo forum for some useful advice. You have a sound point about where are you supposed to put a ticket?

Just get a tax disc holder and put it in there. Simple. You were using a parking space without paying.
Alternatively, if you've been doing it for 9 years and not been caught, and only now got a £30 fine, carry on as you are. £30 for 9 years of parking is pretty cheap! This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -
thanks for your advice appreciate it greatly!0

it was a 25 pound fine, and they say buy a ticket a keep it on you!0

Here in Norwich, in addition to the dedicated motorcycle parks (free and well catered for) , you can park in any of the council operated parking areas for free (not multi-storey) with a powered two wheeler.
from http://www.norwich.gov.uk/webapps/atoz/service_page.asp?id=1400&pid=1014You may also park for free in any of the on-street pay and display bays, but only for the maximum stay allowed as shown on the parking signs
It was pointed out several years ago that trying to attach a "pay & display" ticket on a motorbike was silly.0 -

Just playing devils advocate, but they managed to attach the PCN ok.0 -
Go back and read the sign next to the Pay and Display machine where you parked. They will have a list of exclusions on there somewhere (eg. where disabled badge holders have to park, whether bank holidays are charged etc.) and usually the rules applying to motorcycles are in there. It may be that you get free parking if in certain areas of the car park.
Watch out for signs that say something like "All vehicles must pay*" – "*see Clause xxx.xx Parking Regs." as it has been found that if you could be bothered to go to the council offices, get a copy of their parking regulations, then clause xxxx is that motorcycles can park for free. Some of them have been trying to keep it quiet, so that motorcyclist buy tickets they don't need.0 -
OP, So far you have avoided saying who issued the ticket. Was it a council or private parking company. It makes a world of difference. The cost of £25.00 is not a common amount so without saying who issued it you will not be able to get considered advice.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
