One slight flaw in Gonzo's plan tho....every time you ring up,notes are added to your account on Chordiant along with what's done.Any savvy operator will read these & determine if the customers genuine or trying it on.You'll be suprised how many dont sucseed with Gonzo's approach.
Remember, the customers not always right & most times telling a pack of porkies!0 -
savergirlie,
If you paid by Visa Debit card, you may have a recourse, this is something I did'nt know about till I read it on MSE the other week:
http://whatconsumer.co.uk/visa-debit-chargeback/
I don't think this applies in the case of the OP. The conditions for a chargeback are "If you suspect your card has been used fraudulently, if the goods and services you bought with your card are faulty or if they do not materialise"
There was no fraud, she willingly agreed to purchase but then had second thoughts. That will not give a bank or credit card company a reason to chargeback.
However, having second thoughts is covered by the 14 day cancellation that is a statutory right.
I suspect that the stalling by the company is hoping that the 14 days will expire. I would advise the OP to contact the company by recorded delivery and cancel within the 14 day period.0 -

very true i think it is down to how often you do this as i said i have done it twice and have had Sky for about 6-7 years now which is probably why i have managed to get it sorted this way, i think its a case of not taking pee as a customerDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
Yesterday my mother was called and conned by this 'reputable' company. She is 88 and pretty much housebound - is easily influenced by a friendly voice claiming to be Sky since she has had problems with her Sky box for a while!
I did some research and came up with a number that works:
0208 6799600 - choose option 1 for customer services and they pick up pretty quickly. I spoke to 'Sandeep' who assured me the policy would be cancelled and my mother would get a letter shortly. When I asked he also gave me their postal address:
Sky-Light Ensured Ltd
Windsor House
Unit 1.3
1270 London Road
Norbury
SW16 4DH
I gave the address to my mum, who is going to write to them today confirming cancellation.
Hope this is of help,
Jerry.0 -
Thank you very much for that information.
My mother too was "conned" by a very pushy lady who took her debit card details over the phone.
She realised afterwards that she had made a mistake but by then they had taken a payment from her account.
It is so unfair these companies contacting elderly people who are confused when they are confronted with these pushy people.
It upset my mother a great deal and gave her sleepless nights.
Future payments have been stopped but I will certainly write to this company and let them know my feelings and endeavour to get my mother's money returned.
Thank you for the information placed on this site - it proved very helpful.0 -

I had those !!!!!! phone me up and claiming to be from Sky. I said to them there was no point getting it because as they were from Sky (I knew they weren't) they were clearly aware that there's only a £65 callout even if the entire system needs replacing and that was half the price of the insurance. They made many cockups such as the length of time I'd had my digibox (changed to HD since) and other errors. Told the salesdroid to foxtrot oscar in the end.0

Has anyone else received a strange call from Sky and asking if their Sky TV is working ok and what box they currently have?
I received a call on Tuesday morning from an out of the uk call centre claiming to be from Sky asking if my Sky TV was working ok - yes - and what box I had. Luckily I had my "thinking" hat on and told them if they were calling from Sky they would know what box I had and put the phone down.
After speaking to my Mum yesterday she had exactly the same phone call but doesn't have Sky so put the phone down.
Is there a dodgy scam going on at the moment?"this money saving lark is a full time job"0 -
They're selling pointless Sky equipment insurance probably. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I've had a couple of these calls. I assumed they were from a company (not Sky) wanting you to take out cover for your Sky equipment. They're pretty sly as my mum took out this insurance, not knowing she was already covered as her Sky box was quite new.0
