Mum accusing Dad of signing her up for junk mail etc.

Hi
Ill make as short as I can.
Mum and dad split up about 13 years ago, mum hasn't had a nice word to say about him since, but I have kept in touch with him.
Anyway, 2 months ago my mum bought a new bed, a single bed, as she had a kingsize before and didnt see the point in it as she is on her own. Today I get a phone call from her asking me if I told my dad about it, I said no I only told DH, she then went on to say well I must have because ever since she got it shes been getting mail, catalogues, free samples from companies similar to love honey only dirtier.
She said it must be my dad as there is no one else it could be, she is going to go to the police if she gets one more thing through the post, and tell them its him thats doing it.
I rung my dad, I asked him outright if he or his GF or even any of there mates had done it, he said no, he isnt that childish, he would rather not do anything to cause anymore hassle, as hes already had my sister giving him abuse because he hadn't replied to texts (he didnt have his phone) accusing him of stalking my mum because he saw her at the shopping centre twice.
Its all getting very pathetic, ive explained to her that chances are a company she has bought from/used may have sold her details on etc, but shes not having none of it, she is adamant its my dad, said she would take legal action blah blah blah.
I ended up hanging the phone up on her as shes just started calling me a liar, saying ill always believe my dad, but the thing is my dad is one of those people that likes to get along with everyone, doesn't like to have enemies, its my mum that has it in for him.
Now am I right about the company possibly selling her details on, will the Police just send her away?
Thanks for reading.

When the police have a minute to spare from catching burglars, rapists, drunk drivers etc they'll be able to pop round to your dad's and ask him, and he'll say it isn't him so the onus is on your mum to prove it is. Could she do that ?.................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -

Nope! I told her they wouldn't be interested, that it would be seen as a civil matter (just guessing), then she said she would see a solicitor.
All this over something that could be easily thrown in the bin and forgotton about.0 -
Your mother sounds like a sad, lonely and bitter woman who needs to get a grip. If she wasn't, she would just laugh these off.0

Ive said the same to DH, my sister is going to end up the same, she takes in every word my mum has to say about my dad, whereas I perfer to make up my own mind about people and well my brother just keeps himself to himself, shuts himself in his room when anything starts.
The other thing is, after me and DH got talking about it, were starting to think it may be my sister, she often uses my mums card to buy things, if it turns out it is her and she doesn't say anything, my mum is going to end up looking very stupid.0 -

You sound like the only sane one amongst them! If I were you I would stop your mother from speaking every time she utters something negative about your dad, or get up and walk out the room and leave and then don't contact her until she apologises. She'll learn. If she wants to act like a child/martyr then treat her like one. Good luck with it all!0 -

Thanks, well after hanging the phone up on her (only 2 hours ago) ive not heard a peep, I wont be contacting her until she rings me to apologise not only for her attitude but also for trying to get me involved and calling me a liar, its my birthday next week, so if she cared at all she would be ringing, she also wants to have DD over night the week after, she wont be going to stay without a phone call to me first.0 -
Sounds like you've done the right thing. It can't be easy being put in the middle and I admire your courage for refusing to put up with it anymore. Well done.0

I started getting that sort of catalogue after buying some shoes (not kinky ones!) from Marshall Ward. Check if the catalogue companies are part of that group? They are ruddy persistant, I get half a dozen a month (not all fruity, some for shoes!!)Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
I'd let her report it to the police- she'l look very silly and maybe she will learn from it!:silenced:They Were Up In Arms wrote: »I think tabskitten is a crying, walking, sleeping, talking, living troll :cool:0

I get random things like that all the time! There's a really really trashy one called wickedelic or something, full of undies that would make you look like cher's even more trashy !!!!!! star cousin

I'd never wear any of it and god knows how they got my name and other info! I just have a good old giggle that some people really would wear crotchless/boobless lace bodysuits that look like they are made from dyed-black flowery net curtains (some things in alarmingly large sizes ) and then I chuck the little book in the bin.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession
