Thank you so much for your comment, it is very frustrating. Were suppose to be 2 weeks away from Completion and being able to move out! They have also told us on two occasions that it has been accepted and then withdrawn the mortgage offer!

I wouldnt be so persistant but it isnt really my fault! I have never had this issue before as i usually pay a week in advance but i was away on holiday right up to the deadline and so i had no choice but to pay on deadline day when i returned.

I have a few numbers which i am hoping i can call and speak to someone who can help me. Do you think it's worth going into Abbey to see if they have a mortgage person in branch?

    Thanks
  • Yes. Definitely go in branch to speak to a mortgage specialist and take your letter from Barclaycard with you and fully explain what happened. Maybe they could call someone higher up to overwrite the decision.

Ranting again, but I hate the way we can't speak to to anyone in our own country anymore. Once I'm wealthy again I will insist on only banking with companies who are 100% based in the UK and at the end of the telephone. Indian (or non-UK) staff are friendly enough but its like talking to a computer sometimes. Computer says no. Comuter says yes... Computer says I don't understand that question etc etc... Repeat x10000 times.... (Rant Over).

    Good luck ;)

I know what you mean, i know it's not their fault but they can never help you as they dont have the authority to make any decisions!!

I have just called Barclaycard on 7 different numbers, all but one put me through to the call centre. That 1 is the Barclaycard press office - an English branch! I didnt go into detail but explained (very nicely) that i have been pushed from piller to post and that i have a complaint reference but the number stated on the letter is the commercial business and so will not help me and that all other numbers have gone through to the call centre who cannot help me and that i am reaching the end of my tether!!

They have arranged for someone who deals with this raised enquiries to give me a call back - i have supplied my mobile number and email address.

I havent had a chance to go into Abbey yet but if there is no response to this today, that's where i will be heading first thing tomorrow.

I dont think it's too much to ask for someone to speak to me who can actually has the authority to help me!!!!! They can keep their charges - i really dont care about them but what does it mean to them to take away my mortgage???????!!!!!!! It doesnt benefit them in any way!!

I also double checked the payment system online and no where does it stipulate that you have to make payment 2 working days before the due date. It only mentions this in the FAQs - at what part of making a payment would you feel the need to ask how long it will take them to take their money?!!?! Surely you pay it and assume they will just take it!!!

Sorry for the long post, rant and spelling but im very upset!! This is my future! Its my bday in 2 weeks and were suppose to be moved in by then :(

Just to update for anyone who has a similar issue.

I have just got off the phone with Barclaycards managing directors office. Aparantly the press office passed on my issue as a matter of urgency and one of them called me back (from the UK!!!)

They have agreed to take this off my credit file within the next half an hour!!

If only they had a department who could deal with it this quickly without all the hassle of calling every Barclaycard number ever to exsist!!

I will update once this has taken effect so that you know this matter is closed.

Thank you 'questionabout' for giving advice!

    Further to my previous post.

Barclaycard have removed the late payment at 6am this morning (aparantly Experian only refresh they're records once a day)

I have contacted my mortgage advisor and Abbey have said that they will not complete another credit check for 60 days!!! Its company policy!!!

This means that all my hard work was for no reason.

I have had the score corrected, surely they cant refuse my application because of a mistake by Barclaycard, especially as its no longer on my record!!

Is there anything i can do????

Sadly with Abbey/Santander it is near impossible to get a hold of underwriters or credit scorers...God knows people have tried, its almost as difficult as it is with Citi.

FUK YEAH!!! Quoted for fuking truth! I pay £25 a month to Lloyds just for that privellage and use Amex as much as i can. I use Halifax's services too for those very reasons and other than to take advantage of 0% offers i never touch anyone else.

Very little unfortunately when it comes to Abbey as they are very rigid and stringent.

I am very sorry for your troubles here, i really wish you hadn't gone through this nightmare.

Will this place still be available in 60 days?
  • Result with Barclaycard though - I'm so glad their Press Office understood your dilema and removed the late payment :j

I know it may seem like its for nothing and your House plans have been put on hold for 8 weeks but Abbey will now likely accept you again should you wish to re-apply ;)

Alternatively you may wish to look to another Mortgage company. Good Luck

    Hello,

    Thanks for your response.

Im not too sure if the place will still be avalible as i havent told the vendor yet!

The director of my mortgage advisers is liasing with the director of Abbeys underwriters and so i have to wait and see what is going to happen. Unsuprisingly with Abbey they are taking their time about it!!

    WOW!

The fact you managed to get through to their underwritting section is a miracle - if nothing else and even if all else fails or falls through, you perhaps should buy the director of your mortgage advisers a beer or something or send him a thank you letter for achieving that much...

The other two things i can think that may help is, firstly, any chance barclaycard/barclays could contact Abbey and explain about the incorrect notice, formally, on your behalf as you are a valued customer to them? And secondly, not sure if it is at all possible but could you contact Barclays mortgage department, explainned what has happened and if all else fails, ask them if they would match the offer Abbey made you (which barclays screwed up) and then that way you can have the house you want and they have the profit of a new mortgage to make money out of?

The latter seems a real long shot but perhaps the former might help your case?
